That sounds good and all but will that fit in the regular engine frame or is there going to be needed modifications?

If you have anything like this over there, then there you go. My maxima has a vg33e in it. I'm still getting all of the kinks worked out.

Found a Xterra in Denmark.. Not very popular cars over here I guess. What kind of performance are you getting out of it?

So I'm clear, this forum has decided that you can't bore out a vg30e to 3.3L, right? I did a little research and found this- check out what it says about versatility: http://members.tripod.com/~grannys/2N6VG30.html

Is that right? If not, what problems would you run into if you were to try it?

I think everyone here is in agreement that the vg has loads of potential. This page has been brought to our attention before. The walls supposedly aren't made for it, as the vg33 has more material in the block to support it. No one has tried to bore it to a 3.3 yet that i know of, could be interesting.
Frakk2000-The vg33e has more torque, I can take off from third if i want. I am still getting issues worked out on, as I have the vg30 injectors on it, instead of the vg33 ones, which are 270cc IIRC. I just had the exhaust reworked as well. I'm going to toss an safc-II and see if i can get it running normal.

Am I missing something, or did it not say "Boring out a VG30 block to a VG33 bore size results in the same wall thickness as a VG33?" I guess my only other question is can we trust that info to be accurate? I wouldn't even think of boring mine out unless I was absolutely sure it was ok to do it. Even then, why mess with an already good thing?

My bad, I missed something. People mess with already good things for greater things, like more hp and torque. And a lot of the info out there is BS, but since I have not tried to bore the vg out, i can't accurately comment on that.

You were probably right about the walls not being made for a bore. I did some more reading and the common theme is that it wouldn't work like I hoped it would. I'm just saying I wouldn't want my car to be the guinea pig for that kind of operation when it runs without any problems now, but this has really sparked my interest.

The magic setup is a VG33 block stuffed with VH45DE pistons. That gives you a 3.4L VG and bumps compression from 8.9 to 9.7.

So where do I get a VE set up? Hey Nismo87SE! Where you been?

If it is an se, put in a ve30de. If it is a gxe, put in a vg30e, and if you want something different, toss in a d16y8.

Well im going VG30ET in a few months , I just bought another 2nd gen maxima

So i have a parts car With a 150k mileage engine , Thanks to Suarratt.

Im going GT30R , Intercooled FM , With NX ntercooler kit , I dont know if i should leave the internals stock , Or go JE pistons with Eagle Connecting Rods or what... With some cams dont know what lift would be Approptiate ...

And heres a Intake manifold that supasses all Of the intake manifolds for the VG/VE and other Series http://www.lpperformance.com/.

As for clutch do you think a stage 2 will be good for daily driving , I was told a stage any higher then 1 will mess up the tranny.

I cant think of what else ill be doing at the moment but that gives you a good idea.

Yeah, that L&P Performance intake definitley looks nice. I've seen it before and that definitely seems like the best upgrade for the VG guys. I'm 99% sure it'll fit under the hood too as the 2nd used a similar intake.

I actually have a couple of both 2nd gen Maxima intakes and Z31 Turbo intakes laying around that I could mess with but I just haven't had a chance lately.

vg30dett - z32

Not exactly... TT is the twin turbo. Lower compression (8:1 or so), hollow pistons for oil cooling to the crown, and a few other differences.

vg30de -Z32
vg30dett- Z32 Twin Turbo

THANK YOU! I searched for an hour and couldnt find this. I'm going to try this out soon.

Edit: I'm in an extremely tired state and can't read very well lol.....But did Mr. Gone say that these same mods would work on a VE?

Did I notice in somebody's sig that they had a VG33ET in their Max already installed? Who is that? And how does it perform. Thanks.

I have a vg lying on the ground outside my house. I should try and mess with the engine a bit. The pistons are shot, but I think it could make a good project. If it works, I would need to buy a 3rd gen body to put it in.

Hmm Im thinking of getting a crap 3L block and having it bored out, actually I know what I can do... Ill get the beat to near death VG out of my 5 speed parts car, and dissassemble that junker.

Any donations for testing 3.3L bore in a 3L block?

If that were the case, Id need pistons, cams, seals and injectors. My friends dad just blew the motor in his old Q45 too. hehehehe. Any way what years Q45 can we use for pistons? Im tired and Im finaly going to bed....

Q45 - 90-96 if memory serves. i'm pretty sure 97 is when they went to the VH41

If you're just pulling the pistons out of that Q engine I'd be interested in buying the rest of it off of you depending on the year and such

I'm pretty sure that we have a core vh45de at my job. If it's trashed, you could probably get it for 50 less distributer, accessories, throttle body, and maf...It's early nineties. Also, I can sell vg30s for 100, good running condition.

you know you want to peel 8 pistons out for me labor money could be sent!

I still have to find out if I can grab my buddys core.

another thing to think about:

The VG30E:
Bore: 87mm
Stroke: 83mm
CR: 9:1

The VE30DE:
Bore: 87mm
Stroke: 83mm
CR: 10:1

The VQ30DE:
Bore: 93mm
Stroke: 73.3mm
CR: 10:1

VG33E:
Bore: 91.5mm
Stroke: 83mm
CR: 8.9:1

VH45DE:
Bore: 93mm
Stroke: 82.7mm
CR: 10.2:1

VQ35DE:
Bore: 95.5mm
Stroke: 81.4mm
CR: 10.2:1?

What about buying VQ30 pistons? Im going to bed otherwise the info on rod compatability is here

Also anyone have a VE block to test to 93 mm? Id die to see a VE with cams and 3.4L, and fully tuned on what 12+:1 CR. Now that would be a monster.

Where can you buy the pistons for the vh45 or can you only find them from a used engine
