Auto-dim mirror with comp/temp (pics)
Auto-dim mirror with comp/temp (pics)
If anybody interested, here is the pic of a rearview mirror (it is wider in comparison with "stock", which is great and sunshades still flip down with no problems):

And pic of my interior:

Looks good. Reminds me of my QX4 interior, except I don't have a CB. At first it freaked me out that you had a 200 mph speedo...then I looked and realized you were in Canada, so it's 200 kph.
where did you run the sensor wires for the temp?
I would like to do something like this -- maybe you could go into a little more detail as to what you did to get everything to work right.
thanks

Ha-ha!!! 200mph would be nice!!!
Talking of the mirror installation.
1. First I glued a baseplate (tip).
2. Finding "right" wires took me more then an hour. Basicaly ground wire goes to maplights "ground" (black) and "power" - fat white wire above the right hand sunshade (not so easy to reach without detaching the front side of the headliner).
3. One more thing (!!!). Don't forget to "shave" mirror's bracket - make it a bit "roundish".
4. Then I made a bracket to mount an old mirror cover back in its place (wires from mirror go through the opening in it).
Total it shouldn't take more then 2 hours.
OK ... at this moment I have only compass and autodim working.
I don't have an original temp sensor (otherwise it would be a piece of cake). So the idea is to use readings from a maxima's temp sensor (outside temp). But I still don't know if any resistors (or whatever are required) - I didn't find any specs yet (maxima's sensor and gentex mirror). Well ... I'm not in rush (and it doesn't hurt to press a button on a heater control).
BTW, sorry but no updates on a custom grill (with headlights conv) yet. I spent most of my time out of town ... so no "play" time at all ...

EDIT: btw, if you buy an onstar mirror, "onstar" buttons can be used for any purpose (activate homelink module, mute the stereo, etc) ... with additional wiring, of course
