I was removing the faded "chrome" trim around the tire wells and I got all of the black adhesive off except for in a few spots. I even used lacquer thinner and the stuff wouldn't come off. So my dad informs me that when we bought the car the trim was coming loose, so he used superglue to keep it on there. Bad idea. The superglue bonded the black adhesive for the trim to the paint. Now I have black superglue on the paint. I wanted to leave the trim off, but I might put some PepBoys stuff on there to cover up the black. Does anyone know of anyway to remove superglue? Maybe heat? And also, if it happens that I pull the paint off in the process, is the touch up paint that came with the car any good? What is the basic process for applying it?

I think nail polish remover is essentially a lightweight version of paint thinner. You might wanna think twice before using that. I'd recommend that you check with your local paint shop. I can't remember, but there's some kind of chemical that's similar to 'Goo Gone' that they use to take off stuff like decals and such. Maybe that might help it out.

thanks

I looked at the new chrome trim at PepBoys and it doesn't look to bad and it's only $10, so I think I'm just going to put some of that on. Thanks anyways.
PS. I already used lacquer thinner on it. Hehe!
