... who's got 'em?
I will soon.

... where'd ya get 'em from?
You can get them from Matt93SE (www.mattblehm.com)

... who installed 'em?
A friend and I will, or I will, eitherway

... where'd ya put 'em?
On the engine, (BlehmCo's kit comes with detailed instructions. It's fool proof)

... what results you've noticed after installin' 'em...
I've heard smoother running, faster starting, pulls stronger, better idle, etc.

... and would you recommend 'em.
Yeah, because some very trusted members on this board have had good results with them. Plus if they didn't do anything, Matt wouldn't sell them, lol.

Yes, I have heard very good things about them too. As soon as I can afford them, I am definitely PMing Matt.

How do $60 worth of ground wires make our cars run better?

Electricity runs a car....everything from fuel delivery to ignition to shifting gears (auto) depends on it. So of course, an optimally configured electrical sytem results in a smoother running car. That's where the ground kits come in. They make the power delivery a lot more streamlined by grounding key electrical components in the engine bay. Their effect, though universal, is more profoundly observed in auto tranny cars, as downshifting during deceleration is a lot more accurate....I mean, the car wouldn't slam into 1st gear at 20mph when you press down on gas to get it to move after having almost come to a stop at a light, only to have it turn green before you could stop. The tranny usually stays in 3rd gear and thus gives sluggish response when you try to get going. A well-grounded car wouldn't do that.

@usmanasif...

So then, what would be the advantage for a Max with a manual transmission? I can understand the reasoning in an automatic, as you describe it, but I'm wondering about the advantages for a manual transmission.

Thanks to everyone for posting and helping to clear this up.

Anyone else???

like i said, it isn't only for an automatic. that is just an added advantage for autos. sticks get all of the other benefits as mentioned by MrGone.

I just got home from Jeffy's house where we installed my ground wire kit.

Lets just say that with the ground wire kit, with the VTC's grounded it pulls like the stock grounding and the VTC's working. With VTC's ungrounded, it pulls even harder, its more noticeable in 2nd and 3rd gear. 5th gear has alittle more giddyup but not much. Then again Jeffy took me for a spin in his car, and well its faster than my car (y-pipe/jwt/etc).

Nifty little mod, I'm really happy, and big thanks to Jeffy for his time and parts! w00w00.

a definately good mod. i have them and haven't had any problems. very good quality and workmanship. much smoother across the power band. especially in the low to mid end. my car would pull like crazy with my y-pipe, but after the ground kit install, it isn't that bad.

spend the $55 i guarantee you won't be disappointed.

No problem! Must have added about 15hp because you got home and posted in about 20 min. haha I didn't think the soldering iron would get the 4awg and 8awg hot enough to solder together but it went fine.

You car started almost before you turned the key! Geez. Fast start.

I think I'm going to get them from Matt93SE. I was looking at a set of universal ones made by NISMO on eBay, but I discovered that they don't come with any instructions at all, so it appears that Matt93SE is getting $60 from me too

BTW - Is this one of them DIY jobby-jobbers, or is this one that you need some help to do?

Thanks again, guys!!!

It is a DIY, but very, very once you know where to put the connections.

Matt's instructions will make it a snap of a DIY! And no, don't go for the NISMO kind as Matt's are custom-made for the 3rd gen so they aren't even one inch longer/shorter than they need to be.

hahaha, I didn't actually open it up on the highway because by the time I got by BCC I looked over at the onramp and saw a cop. I am pretty sure he was just circling around, but didn't want to take a chance.

Car starts alot faster now

First time I ran first gear I almost thought my clutch was slipping, It was with the VTC's grounded (I didn't realize it). It pulled quickly to ~5500 but then seemed like it hit a wall. With them ungrounded it just pulls nice and smooth.

How did you guys get to hook the wire up to the stock grounding point, I can't get my hands anywhere around it to even take the screw off...

I took the whole stock grounding point bracket off the block. There are two bolts going into the front of the block. Then I drilled a hole in it and sanded it down and bolted the new ground wires to it.

If you buy Matt's kit, it will come with instructions for all of that.

I made a write up a long time ago (before Matt started selling kits, I actually made it for a friend because he was asking me about it, It needs to be updated since when I wrote it I was inbetween VE's and could only go off pictures). I dont even remember what I said, lol. It is on my cardomain.

No pics coming from me until Mondayish since the camera is out of town

The shiny bolt with all the wires coming out above it is the installed part of the kit. The old bolt is the existing ground and it is located on the driver's side of the motor. You can see the manifold off to the left and that will kind of give you an idea of where to look. You have to kind of crouch down and look into the motor bay.

This is off matt's site. Matt has instructions that explain the whole thing and it is really worth buying. I'll show you this pic of his because it is on his site anyway but you'de need to buy the kit for any more info, he did alot of work on it. I just finished mine, it does seem to smooth things out a bit on acceleration.
