Intake removal

Looking at the job before starting. Even though Nissan manual and Haynes make no mention of it, it would appear that the EGR valve needs to be removed from the intake in order to get the itake out. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, what do you do about the IAC/air cut valve? This is hard wired without a connector. Should it be removed from the intake before removing the intake or cut the wires and leave it attached or some other approach?

Thanks for replies.

I was about to try to answer your question, but I don't know what kind of car you are driving. Is it the SE or GXE? Either way you shouldn't need to cut any wires just to take off the intake.

Took me about 10mins to get all my rusted bolts and junk out. I never knew there really were wires other than the MAF... I think thats what its called?. but that was the only thing I unplugged...

Goodluck. Took me a total of 4hrs.. 3 hrs to cut a HUGE hole, but other than that... it was quick.

What does GXE or SE have to do with anything, The question would be do u have a VG or a VE and there shoudl be a connector but its 8 - 10 on the other end of that wire that comes from the iacv.

Sorry, 90SEBlack, I shoudle reely reread what I rite 8-10 be4 I post nything, It woudle probly be esier to reede and understand.

dod.albino-did you ever get it taken apart? I can't say for sure because I don't have a VG motor, but I would think that if neither of the manuals say anything about it that you can just leave the EGR on and remove the piping going into it, that's what you have to do on the VE.

No you dont have to take off the EGR valve to do the injectors, just remove the 2 nuts on the side of the IAC valve. If I remember right it was 2 12mm nuts
