How do you decipher the trans-axle code?

Ok, if you guys can help me out on this question it will drastically reduce the amount of tranny questions you're gonna get. My car has the trans code RE4F04V. The car I'm gonna pull parts from has the code RS5F50V. Is everything is compatible? Do I have the same differential? I would imagine it has to be the same. I believe I have the LSD but i've been wrong before. Also, if they're different (i.e. locking differential <--> non-locking differential) will it still work?

Thanx,

Fugi

Both are supposed to have an LSD as signified by the "V" an the end of the trans code

RS5F50V is the limited slip 5 spd tranny.
RE4F04V is the limited slip auto tranny.

Yeah,

I'm doin' the 5spd swap. I knew 1 was a 5spd and the other an auto.

I went out to the yard today. I pulled the clutch pedal, master cylinder & line, shift linkage & all other shifter stuff, stabilizer bar, clutch assembly, and flywheel. The hydraulic lines were cut when the motor and tranny were separated from the car.

All I need to do now is get the tranny (already on lock down), buy hydraulic lines, figure out the wiring of the P/N switch & the cruise control rewiring, get what I need to swap the axles (still not sure), buy ACT clutch kit, and buy Unorthodox flywheel.

I didn't pull the brake pedal cause it looked like I would have to remove the steering column. Is there an easier way? I know I can cut the brake pedal I already have in my car. I'd rather have the right pedal though.

Feel free to chime in if I got anything wrong or if I seem of track. I should be done in a week or 2 (other priorities have to come first). I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

Thanx for the help guys,

you can remove hte pedals without removing the steering column- I don't know how since I've never done it, but I know it can be done.
