sometimes when i warm up my max the rpm goes upto 2k or so and stays there until i put i into D.....and today i got out of the car to open up my garage gate and i left it in N with the parking brake on (i am used to driving my dads stick stanza therefore some times i treat my auto like a stick)when i came back in the car it had shut off and i turned it back on and the rpm when upto 2k,this sort of thing happens once in a blue but i wanna know if this has happened to other 3rd gen owners out there?what could the problem be?

my car does this too. sometimes when i turn it on, it idles at like 2k or so. i have to put it in nuetral for it to idle correctly. if i put it in reverse it just dies. i dont know whats up either, but it does it rarely so i dont really care.

My max does it occassionally too but its only because I port and polished my intake.Sometimes the butterflies on the intake plenum dont close all the way letting air in the intake which causes the car to rev higher.I think that maybe your throttle cable is sticking.Next time it happens pop the hood real quick and push your throttle all the way down.If it idles down then the butterflies are sticking. You can lubricate the throttle body to fix it.If thats not the problem than good luck.
