rims problems

i have some 19 inch rims on my 93 max GXE, i got a wheel alignment, all the wheels have been balanced, but i still dont know why the steering wheel shakes when i drive it on the freeway going about 60 mphs or higher. Any suggestions on what it would be?

do you have hub centric rings on the wheels? not having them can cause vibrations. I know they do on mine.

You may have worn out suspension pieces that are amplified by the thinner tire and heavier wheel.

I had a shake and replaced all of my suspension except the tie rods and rack. I am going to try some rings on my wheels if I can find them and if I still have problems I am going to look into the tie rods...then the rack.

More than likely your control arm bushings are worn, strut towers are cracked and worn etc.

This doesn't have much to do with the thread, but I was wondering Michael if your car still looks like your sig pix or if you have painted or something. It's a dang nice car and I was just wondering if you have updated on it and if you got some pix.......those look like Lexus rims which are way hot

His rims are nice, but the MGRs are better.

vibes at 60mph..
control arm bushings
rear parallel link bushings
tie rod ends
ball joints
wheel balance
hubcentric rings
bent wheels.

you've got a few things to check there.

Well it doesnt look like it does in the sig but its not painted either.

I have had a lot of stuff happen to prevent me from finishing...I will not go into that because its still a sore subject for me. I hope to paint it this summer.

Right now it is coated in black epoxy primer and does not have a single piece of weather stripping or anything else on it for that matter. I will be taking the doors off in a week or 2 so I can finally paint them on the inside and paint the door jams too. Then its just a matter of finishing the little bit of body work and paint the whole thing.

Believe me when its finished I will post pics and update my sig. I am tired of the multi color sig pic .

The wheels are Radius (Moda) R6 by the way. They will soon ba a different color...just not sure what yet.

Matt... ...I tried to get some MGRs (actually MAS but the same wheel) in 18s last year but the deal fell through because the person was too busy to answer PMs or emails much less take them off...or he just didnt want to sell them. I will one day have my RO_JA formula 5s in 18s though because these wheels are just too dang heavy.

heh, yeah, I remember that Mike..

MAS Italy was the company that originally made the MGR wheel- I guess they were bought out or renamed to Voxx.. which is the name on mine.

I think it is 2 different companies that make the same wheel design...I have even seen another company with a wheel just like it but I cant remember the name. I have seen that on other designs too. I know you can still find the MAS Italy "Presidents" but they may be left over stock or something.

I bet the rims are not hubcentric. So even if the rims/tires are balanced, it could vibrate.

I imagine these are just some generic multi-fit rims with some huge hub bore to fit everything from Nissan to Mitsubishi.
