Yet Another Transmission Question...

Question
I'm tryin' to save money on my 5spd swap. I would like to get a lightweight aluminum flywheel but IMO $350 can be spent on more important swap components. The one I picked up at the yard is pretty rusted (and damn heavy). Can I spray it down w/WD-40 or have it machined? I am assuming it shouldn't go in until I remove the rusted flakes covering it. It actually looks a lot like a rotor that's been in the yard to long. I would love to be able to use it.

Blah Blah Blah
BTW, I just ordered an ACT medium duty clutch, ordered a hydraulic line from Nissan, and picked up the cooler lines from the yard. I also pulled the brake pedal assembly. That was a B***H! I had to remove the steering column and the master (brake) cylinder. I had never touched either before and had to figure it out from scratch.

Next on the list is to replace a bent stabilizer bar (possibly straighten), get gear oil, STS from custom maxima's site, find out exactly what needs to be done about the axles, and sand/paint all the rusted components I got.

Thanx for all the help everyone has given me. I couldn't have got this thing started w/out ya.

P.S. The car I pulled the parts off of was a 92 SE w/rear disc brakes. I could get everything needed for a drum to disc brake swap. I'm sure the guy would charge me no more than $50 since the car has a date w/the crusher soon. I think they had some rust but could still be usable. I would pull and ship 'em for $75-$100 (depending on price) if anyone is interested.

I have a stock VE flywheel that I will sell you for $50 plus shipping (or pick it up in Atlanta ). You can get it resurfaced and you'll be set.
When I did my clutch, I used a friend's flywheel to get resurfaced so I didn't have to wait for mine to get done while we were in the middle of the clutch replacement.
