Electrical Problems...

After getting my car running right I went to go cruise to test the engine last night...but the tail lamp fuse kept blowing...got home from work today and taped up a bunch of the harnesses in the tail lights and the fuse has stopped blowing...just drove it...its kinda dark here, and the tail lamps work fine and everything, but my interior lights dont come on (gauges, clock, etc.) I checked every fuse in the kick panel in the interior...what else can I do? I was thinking dimmer switch, and its not just down all the way...anyone?

EDIT: a little more information...the gauges don't light up...they still work, and the idiot lights are still fine, the clock works but its WAY dim, the light in the shifter isn't working (could just be a bad bulb).

Timing Control Unit.

white box under the driver's side lower dash by the left knee. You will need to take it off the lower dasy to get to it. check that. open it up and see if there are any burnt connections. if so, either fix it yourself or get a new one from a junkyard.

it doesn't have to be a maxima that it comes from. any nissan built in 91 should have the same box. i burnt a connection on mine and replaced it with the TCU from a sentra. it has been working fine for over a year.

Then how come other things the TCU controls still work? I.E. the chime it makes when the lights are on and the doors are open.

different connections for different things

just because the chime works doesn't mean it isn't broke. you will have to open it up and see if there are any connections burnt.
