over revved:(

My friend and I switched cars for once, and he was racing me (I was on his R6)
I have a 93 VE and he was topped out in 3rd gear and shifted to 4th...but hit 2nd instead. He said it revved instantly up to redline...around 8 grand. I drove it home and when it is at around 1200 rpms i notice a vibration that wasn't there before. Do you guys know what might have been damaged when this happened? thanks in advance
PS try not to flame me...this wasn't my fault

My first instinct would be that you overspun something in the accessory drive. Because your friend just blipped it into the high revs, and didn't hold it there for an extended period of time, there shouldn't be any major damage. Also, if something did happen, there would have been a noticable sound, and at that kind of engine speed, anything breaking would mean the engine would basically self descruct, at least to some level. Have your accessories checked out, alternator, water pump, AC compressor and such, because if something was overspun, it would be damaged and could certainly cause vibration.

I don't want this to sound like I'm flaming, but that's part of the reason why I don't like other people driving my car. At least if I do something dumb like shift into the wrong gear, it's my fault, but when your friend does it, it really blows 'cause what can you do about it? Also, frankly, anyone that can shift worth anything doesn't miss 4th gear and go into second. Your friend might want to learn how to shift.

I tell my friends you break it you buy it

Dixit had this problem aswell, but he hasnt gotten the car back together yet so he's not entirely sure whats caused it. He seems to think its tranny based though.

Does the viberation still happen with the clutch pushed in?

The vibration is only really noticable when the car is not moving, and it happens with the clutch pushed in and also when its in neutral. Also, does anyone know if these are interference engines?

after driving it today, I think that it seems like its something in the clutch or flywheel. at idle, you can see the clutch fork vibrate, and when you take off in 1st then you can really feel it vibrate and shudder when you to go. Is it possible that the clutch or flywheel warped somehow from maybe excessive heat? or maybe from spinning too fast something let loose on the flywheel or clutch...what do you guys think about that?

I have this vibration too in first when I take off, sometimes it's worse than other times. Also there's a low grinding noise. No vibration in neutral, but there when letting off the clutch.
