Sounds like the wire came off the sender for the temp gauge. What engine do you have, maybe we can point you in the right direction.

Lets start with this, what year and model car do you have? You either have a VG or a VE engine.

All 89-91 SE and GXE had VG engines
All 92-94 GXE's also had VG engine
VE engines were only 92-94 SE's

OK, standing at the front of the car, you will look under the hood. You will see this big metal object with lots of hoses and wires. That's your engine. At the very top of your engine is the metal piece with the V6 3000 plate. That's your upper intake collector. Still standing at the front of the car, on the far left side of that there is a pipe coming off with two hoses coming out of it (actually, it comes off the intake manifold 2 pieces down from the upper collector. That's where your temp guage is. The temp guage is the one closer to you from where you're standing. The wire may have come off of it, in which case there will be a small terminal exposed, and a wire nearby that should slip on very easily. The other possibility is that the terminal broke off (like it did on mine). In that case, you'll need to get a wrench (I believe it's a 12mm or so), unscrew the old sensor, and screw in a new sensor.

Yeah, I'd check the hot and cold sensor on the engine.

Just messing with you.

If you need a photo or something of where the temp sender is, let me know.

It might just be corroded too, if it is just sand the connectors down and put some dielectric grease on it.
