It's official, my Max is dead. The insurance company called me this afternoon, it's totaled, which is what I figured in the first place. Now I get to see how much I can squeeze out of the insurance company.

First, what do you think is fair for a 93 SE w/ 70k miles in pristine condition and minor mods? I don't think I'll settle for less than $9,000 or so, I don't think that's unreasonable.

Second, what do you think I should replace my Maxima with? I'd like another one, but my luck with them has been a little slim... any chance I could get a 4th generation?

go for $9K.... The insurance co. has to pay you what it would cost to buy the same car in the same condition from a dealer, and Kelly blue book has your car with 75K for $9720 from a dealership. If you need more support on what maximas are worth, I could perhaps get you some ads from dealers around here and what they are asking for 92-94 SE's (most recently I saw a 94 for $9K with 100K miles)

Well Guido..... I hate to sound like the vulture circling the carcass, but when/if you decide that you might sell any of your mods, don't hesitate to let us know, ok?

As for 9k for your Max..... that doesn't sound too far-fetched.

Don't forget that anything else damaged is considered property damage and is added to the replacement price for the car. Typically the insurance company will let you keep the car for like $500. Meaning that you get the replacement value (- $500), plus anything damaged such as subs, amps, box, mods, etc, then by keeping the car you can make more money by parting it out. When the guy rear ended my '87 Max and totaled it, he cracked my tool box in the trunk, he had to pay me for that, plus the chrome trim and spoiler I had on the car too. I didn't keep the car though. Just a thought.

Not sure any of my mods are in a condition to be sold, FSTB, intake and all that were crunched all to heck in the accident, anything soft under the hood is probably worthless.

I'll let you know if anything is worth salvaging.

7,500 is pretty good in my opinion..

I've seen 93s and 94s for that much at dealerships now, 9 grand is VERY good, I've also seen 95-96 Maximas with around 90k miles for that much. So I think if you get anything more then 8 grand, you'll be walking away with enough $$$ to get another 92-94 SE easily.

I've been out test driving cars this weekend and tried out a few 3rd and 4th gens, I can't find any cars comparable to my last two for under $8500 or so though.

Not sure what I'll end up with, but I'm still looking!
