Anyone Switch Their Auto Stick?

Has anyone ever switched this w/ something other then the levoc or w/e brand that one is? I mean for those of you who like it fine but I think it looks to space shippy or something you would find on a riced out car.

anyone else know how to put on another type the auto ball type or anything?

write up or w/e is welcome.

I changed mine. I got a cheap autozone fake carbon fiber shifter and ebrake handle. I then painted them to match my car (when its painted) and installed it.

It would have sat up to high with the existing plastic piece on the shifter rod so I cut that off and had to put a flat plastic piece around the shifter rod to keep it straight in the shifter housing so the button on the shifter would work right.

Here is a picture of it. Yes its an auto with a manual boot and yes the interior is a mess but I was just getting a shot of the acc and painted pieces.

All that shifter needs is a trigger at the front for nitrous - then it'll look like a fighter jet joystick!

Don't think that's a naked guy - looks more like his neck or top of chest (distorted) as you can see hair of his head on the top of the shifter & if he's looking thru the lcd screen on back of camera, it would be around neck height.

so is that an auto or 5 speed shifter? I told you exactly how to install it when I replied to your PM. I even told you how to install a 5speed shifter ****.

You are not going to understand exactly how until you take your shifter off and look at what you are dealing with. If I have time tonight I may take some pics showing what I did.

dont have to do the swap. I can make any shifter **** I want work with the AT shifter in my car.

I dont need a button (like a manual ****) to make it work .

Hah, make sure you don't throw away that stock shiftknob. My carbon fiber auto. shifter wouldn't stay on, and I lost my overdrive toggle, so I revisited the stock shifter, and returned the carbon fiber one. That's just my experience though

well it would take some work but let me see if I can explain it so that it is understandable. Basically what you would do is cut the plastic piece off of the shifter rod.

Thread the shifter rod (its a small rod) then find a larger rod that is just smaller than the tube that the shifter rod is in. Then drill out the center of that larger rod for taping (the same thread and size of the smaller rod). Now follow that hole with one that is slightly larger for a short piece (not all the way or you will not be able to thread it on). Then screw it on with some of it going into the tube. This will keep it centered.

Now you have a rod sticking up that is large enough to put a shifter **** on it from a 5speed and all you have to do is push down on the whole shifter **** itself to change gears.

It sounds like a lot of work but its really quite simple and I considered doing it but since I have a cheap (that I made nice by painting) AT and ebrake matching set I decided to just do it the way I did.

You can make it any height you want to by cutting the tube where ever you want to.

The drawback to all of this is that you might as well throw out the stock shifter handle because it is worthless after you cut the plastic piece off of the shifter rod.

alright. If you guys find a nice shift **** that looks better than the custommaxima one, something like the one dkris42 posted, I'll keep my car an auto, but by the end of the summer, my teacher told me he would give me a VE engine for 20$ that has just been rebuilt. and my tranny is going to give soon, so I need either a 5-speed or auto...
