What size speakers have you guys put in the rear deck and the doors? Stock is 6 3/4 for the rear and 4x6 for the doors.

Can I get 6x9's in the back? What will fit in the front doors?

I have 6x9s in the back. No mods necessary.

i put 6X9's in the back too, but those damn bose amps are annoying... if you have bose, you cant hook non-bose speakers to the amps... or something like that...

How about the doors? What did it take to get the 5.25's in there? I don't have Bose.

Toda,

You have 4x6 up front and 6.5 in the rear. BOSE setups have 4" in the front and 6x9" in the rear, I believe.

I have the same stock setup as you. I've converted my fronts to 6.5" and the rear to 6x9"

I elected to top-mount my rear speakers, I had to cut the deck lid back there to get it to fit right. It takes pretty extensive modification to get 6x9" back there, but the sound is awesome from a speaker of that size. I directly mounted mine to the parcel shelf finisher. You might want to make a new shelf with 1/4" MDF or something like that.

For the front speakers, you'll need to make new mounting pods from MDF for the 6.5" speakers. Not too difficult at all.

Quick question, where do you buy MDF? Never used it before, but I want to make some speaker pods for the front. Eventually I'll get a system in there

Buy it at Home Depot or Lowes Home Improvement Centers.

It stands for Medium Density Fiberboard. It's characteristics prevents resonance which can sometimes cause a muddy echoe in enclosures made from......lets say virgin plywood.

Today I gutted the BOSE and installed new speakers and a HU. I got a Kenwood KDC516S HU and I used 5 1/4" kenwood in the stock BOSE speaker enclosures on the door, and of course 6x9 in the rear. While it does sound good and in some ways better than my BOSE(more power and clarity), my bose definitely had more bass. I will have to get a box to get the bass I had before. While bose must not know how to make amps, their speakers rock. Too bad the amps took out the speakers when they went. It's actually pretty easy to get standard 5 1/4 in the BOSE door pods. I would probably recommend it as a simple solution instead of trying to custom make a baffle board.

no no no

the stock speaker is 4' but you can put an aftermarket 5 1/4 in but you may need to use wood to make it fit good. I canget 5 1/4 rockford fosgates with swivel tweets for 180.00. Damn good deal.
