VE30DE Valve cover removal
#1
Who has taken the front valve cover off of their VE30DE motor? I want to polish the thing, which won't be a problem unto itself, but I just want to know if there is anything more to taking it off than removing the coils and plugs and a few nuts. Are there a half a million other things connected to it that aren't obvious?

Stick with the dealer
More than likely you will not be able to get a valve cover gasket from your local auto parts store. They probably only have the VG engine listed in their parts computer/catalog.

Someone musta done this?
Does anyone know any particulars about this? With all the messes we get into, I can't believe no one has taken the cover off before. Had to get the gasket from the dealer.

CandiMan is correct about that gasket thing. I bought a valve cover from the junk yard that I want to get powdercoated, and when I went to get the gasket for it, the parts places around here (North Dakota) said that I had to get it from the dealer. I'm probably going to the dealer tomorrow to find out exactly how much it costs, and I will post my results.
