I'd say depends on how badly they rust before you get them to the dyno

you should get your car on a dyno and let us all know. And anotherthing how long have you had them? I hear a lot of $hit being talked and you seem to be the only one that has them. you have a job to do. inform us.

I had em on since the winter! The only problem i have had w\ em is the it the bolts on the downpipe kept loosing, but that was easily fixed w\ locktight nuts and washers!

I too have pacesetter headers, and haven't seen anything wrong with them so far. The labor to have them installed was a killer, but I have noticed a gain, mostly in the higher speeds. I have a bit of a different sound. actually i'm going to go get a muffler put on now, so i'll get back to you all later. my advise: go with the y pipe, it's cheaper and form what i've read, a better bang for the buck.

would u get more power from a y pipe or header..i know that booth would def. let ur car breath alot better but for the money i'd do the y pipe..those headers have a bad rep.maybe u could prove us wrong

okay the only thing i don't understand is....you all say y-pipe......but that still doesn't help if you have a bad manifold......I have a y pipe that was made for me....but i still have my manifold (crack leak) not to mention studs as well. did i miss something on the y pipe? You all say you get power w/ the y pipe but isn't the y pipe and headers basicly two totally different things?

please forgive me if I missed something.

and you VE guys don't headers come stock on your maxes?

of course there is...Hooker headers are great...Headman are too.

Oh wait you mean for the 3rd gen Maxima...

NO. Unless you want to pay Cattman a bunch of money to make some. I think he proposed it a while back but it was way more than most would spend.

What proof do you have the 3rd gen. headers have a bad reputation? They have only been out for a couple months and not many people have taken the plunge.

1)pacesetter sucks..2)i bought some b4 on my se-r and they rusted after a winter's fury in dirty jerz..also the box states that the blk paint is only for shipping purposes..they might be able to squeeze power out of the car but unless u have some serious paint on them that heat coated ull be seeing brown.the gasket is thick as hell, meaning that the hole for the exh. is probably slightly bigger..can ve headers fit?

Well like it was said b\f all that vibrations turned out to be not so much from the headers but the Pop-Short Stack Intake....I Just Put in ma Place Racing CAI in and much less vibration so the headers so far are excellent!!!! After lik 75 the car picks up lik a bat outta hell it is kinda scary how well it picks up speed> And by the way ma header are coated silver....>?

Well, as far as rusting goes, all painted headers have that problem. It wasn't that long ago that all of the big name companies had the same issues. Now most use ceramics, or jet-hot coatings to make the finish last longer. Most sell plain painted headers, with the coatings as an additional cost. Besides, if Pacesetter say's the paint is only for shipping/appearence, why are you complaining because they started to rust?

160hp at the crank around 130hp at the wheels in good running condition with no performance mods.
i'm sure it differs but i think that's a good number to assume.

30hp loss to the wheels? Are you sure? That would be almost 20%--and for a manual FWD, that is unheard of. I was thinking 140-145ish.

headers are in now...the job was a killer with broken bolts and what not...but im guessing about 10 hp gain and the sound is killer!!! I am impressed with the headers....by the way....the y pipe comes with the headers....so u get headers and y pipe for the ones who are comparing, you get both!!

Jon
i was just taking a guess. at most i'd figure 140whp though. i know the drivetrain loss on a manual is much less than an auto but i don't think that out of the factory vg 5spds were making 145whp.
i could be wrong though...who here's done a stock dyno on there vg 5spd?
