e36s -- differences?

I'm in the middle of working out a deal to buy 1swtMaxima's e36's, but he says they are the "projector" kind. I just want the ones that Michael and Craig have, I think those look best...is there any difference in the appearance of the normal and projector type...also he says they need H1 bulbs, are these expensive? If they look different and the bulbs are expensive I'll just look for some normal ones...thanks guys.

These are the projectors. H1 bulbs are around the same price as any other bulbs I believe.

The projectors have better light output and work great for HIDs. They are bigger and require more cutting though. One day I will get some projectors and HIDs but I have a lot more to spend on than lighting right now.

You do know the mine and Craigs arent stock E36s right? They are modified to look flush.

Mike. If you get these projectors (nice install Brad!), how to get around the glass lenses vs the plastic on the normal E36 housings. I'd think you would have to give up the flush mod

projectors r better..u get the cutoff beam with ur high n low beams. can wait to get hids soon. u can change colors if u dare...watch out fo' dem cops. i neva get caught cuz i drive with my headlights on. there is alot of cutting and fitting w/ projectors but if u want the easy route...just get the normal US spec ones.

I realize that you and craig made yours flush with the headlight covers...would it be possible to do that with these?

I would just take the glass lens off and use the plastic lens covers just like the regular lights. The only difference is I would go ahead and finish the job by molding it in like James did since the Projectors dont have a glass protection lens in front of the high beams (well I guess it depends on which projectors you get) and the bulb would be more subject to rain getting in.

That is one of the main reasons I never finished my lights. I didnt want to waste the time on them when I know I will do the projectors down the road. I should go ahead and do it for a learning experience though.

I highly doubt it due to the fact that these are larger than our headlights (could be wrong?) and require us to skin our stock brackets. I can't wait to get some.
