Venom 400 Module

Well I've got my exhaust finished off. Put in my tranny cooler. I'll be running amsoil atf and bumping up the timing by the end of the summer. CAI & UDP on the way....now i'm scrounging for more power mods....i'm literally desperate.
Anyone used this Venom 400 do-dad?
I have the ability to pick up one of these for really cheap and i wondered if it would be worth it.
I know that there's tonnes of these types of modules on ebay that are a complete waste of time and money. you know, all the little resistor mods and such.
I'm only really considering this because I know of Venom products and they have somewhat of a respectable name in their industry.
Here's the link:
http://www.venom-performance.com/nf/.../nissan/n1.htm
part# V30-129
Here's some info about it too:
http://www.venom-performance.com/nf/.../v400.htm#v400

Let me know what you guys think. thx

if you have any functioning brain cells you'd realize you'd be better off spending that $80 on a rancid *****

Venom = don't waste your loot

Hey for 80 bucks why the heck not? I take it for some reason you wouldn't be able to return the thing. Seems like there is a lot of products sold for a maxima of questionable performance benifits but nobody really has any real proof of whether something worked other then the tried and untested butt dyno method.

It would almost be worth it to find someone on this forum who has 99 percent of these mods including the more extreme and questionable mods and reserve a day at the dyno machine. Then piece by piece swap on and try different combinations of the mods to see what performance gains if any work. Then post all of the results in one sticky thread so that people wouldn't always have to ask questions like this...

How could altering the TPS and Map signal add performance? If you trick the computer into adding more/less fuel and timing than the engine can use, at the least you will lose performance, at the worst damage the engine.

Those won't affect the timing. Not in any benefical way anyway

well for $80 it might be worth a try. i'll be seeing the guy selling this thing tomorrow at the toronto maxima bbq. so i think i'm just going to flip a coin on it.

however,
(i can see me getting flamed already )
i was thinking of running a switch to the o2 sensor so that i could run rich at the flick of a switch...
although that could result in a few bad o2 sensors over time so i'm not sure if it would be worth it considering they're not that cheap. i've had the o2 sensor unplugged before and the car has a noticeable amount of extra low end grunt.

adamis,
you can have it for $90 + shipping. the extra $10 goes to jeff for finding me a buyer

***if i do get this thing i likely wont get a dyno done. but i'll try and prepare a decent write up on the install and what differences it did or did not make***

i agree somewhat, but it did run much better. i guess it felt more responsive. it was a noticeable change for the better imo. it certainly did decrease my fuel economy though...in a big way!
but i think i recall reading that in general cars make the most power from running a tad lean.
not certain though.

yes, definently put on a flame retardant suit for saying that load...a flame thrower is aimed at your head!

it was all in your head....running excessively rich will yeild NO GAINS, but it wil do cool things like foul plugs, give bad MPG and wash out cylindr walls..fun stuff!

I got that from the Venom website. They claim that altering the TPS and Map signals to the ECU will trick it into altering the fuel and timing maps, giving increased power from 1500-5000Rpm. That was kinda my point, whatever it tricks the ECU into, it can't be good.

Correct.

Now Shocker, aren't you wondering why this guy is selling *cough* conning *cough* you into buying this thing if it works so well??

Or is the common sense button not turned on today?

Hmm, the whole story comes out that this came off another maxima... I was thinking it was something that fell off the back of a truck or something.

With this infromation, yeah, why the heck is the guy selling it? I'd ask for a test drive in the guy's own car or something before I paid some smack for it. Be skeptical of everything and you won't get burned yet be skeptical on everything and you could be missing out on the next microsoft stock...

Your smack, I'd flip that coin and see what fate says but think twice before buying it.

1. Canadians aren't silly, we're just always drunk.
2. the guy is selling it because Venom told him that it would work with his 2nd gen. he never installed it once he figured out it was for the 3rd gen.
3. common sense button?
