Does anyone know when Nissan......

will stop producing parts for our 3rd gens?

Wow thats gonna su ck huh. Imagine that, I think the world might end. I know there are a ton of aftermarket parts available, but there are a bunch of things that are only OEM.

Years ago I rememmber hearing for domestic cars that parts are only available for 10 years, but I think that's changed now. Domestic cars don't su ck quite as much as they did then.

it might still be 10 years for domestic cars because i just called ford last week to inqury about an engine wireharness for a friends 84 mustang and the guy went to check and came back and said ford discontinued it in 94 so that makes sence

why dont you call the dealer and inquiry about a part for an 81 max and see if they can still get it

They sold soooo many 3rd gens, I think it's gonna be awhile before they are discontinued completely.

Check out Painless Wiring, or find a Ford part's guy who knows what he/she is doing. Ford, (I imagine GM and Chrysler too), has an obsolete parts depot where you can find a lot of discontinued parts, that they still have in stock. Most dealer part's people just aren't bright enough to dig that deep.

More than likely it won't happen for quite some time as they still have parts available for the old Z cars. Really just depends on how the sales did and since the Maxima probably had very good sales you can bet on the common replacement parts being around for a while.

i will assume dangerously that quite a few parts are the same across many years of nissans, like unglamorous relays and hidden things. so i will not worry. yet.

i'm needing weatherstrip now. a lot of mine is cracking and rotting. and that **** is expensive.
