i just bought a used 1990 maxima, in good condition. after a few repairs, i only have one complaint: the damn alarm keeps going off at completely random times.

example: watching TV in my room at 1:30am the other night. my horn starts going off. i look out the window, and there's nothing near my car. it's just sitting there going off. i'm come out of stores to hear it going off, and it's gone off a few times at work, too. it's starting to drive me crazy.

so. how can i disable my security system? i don't want it. can i pull a fuse, or snip some wires or something? i just want it gone.

check to make sure your seatbelt is in the car (not the doorjamb) every time you get out of the car.
that was what kept tripping my alarm.

 

just unplug the harness going into the alarm (under the lower dash to the left of the steering column)
