Window Switches

Ok for all of you Maxima lovers I am working on refurbishing complete sets of used switches and even color matching the rubbed off white lettering to you dash interior. I am also planning an auto window down LED mod so its blue instead and probably going to do Craig's auto up mod as well. Anyone that has any thoughts, flames, or general interest let me know. I have obtained the proper tecnology to refirbish the letters so they look new so now I just have to put some time into my idea.

Shoot me back with ideas or criticism

Any interest? I know most of you have worn lettering on your window switches, isn't that nagging at you? What about making that boring green led a bright blacklight blue one like the rest of your dash light mods? Well I'm gonna go for it anyway I think its a good idea

Yes, I would be interested, and it IS bugging me. You've figured out how to silk-screen (??) the lettering back on with the right font?

How much is the projected cost?

I'd think about making a new thread with a better title, like "Gauging Interest: Replacement Window Switches" or "Refurbished window switches anyone?".... something like that. Might get more attention that way, since I thought this was another "something wrong with my switches" thread.

I would be interested as long as the price is cheaper than a new one from the dealer. My auto window down button doesnt like to work all the time and it's getting annoying. Will the blue led be brighter than the stock one? Stock is pretty dim.

Edit: Will you be including a whole new circuit board also, or is it just the switches?

Basically I will be taking tested window switches from 100,000-200,000 cars and re painting the buttons with not a silk screen but a special process that almost stamps the correct paint right on to the switches. The circuit boards will be used but tested, contacts cleaned, dust free and I will make sure everything operates correctly. As I said, I am thinking of using Craigs's auto up MOD (with permission) while I'm in there, and have to work out the details of the led. I would definitely want a bright blue LED so you can see that important midnight drive through switch. The plastic in front of the green light is clear, so all I have to do is change out the proper LED or do a little modifying to get a brighter one in there. I have about 6 tested window switches from the bone yard that I was just going to E-bay, but I think it would be fun to go that extra step. I'm not sure how much such a process would cost, but with all considered and my few hours of research thus far it would be far less than a brand new dealer switch and would have all that special crap that makes us love our cars even more.

Glad to see some interest. I made the thread vague because I didn't want to make it look like I was selling something but I'll start an additional thread that is more specific. Thanks for the input all,

AJ

If you have pics and they letters look ghetto, then I might be down with getting a new one.

Maybe you could do a core-swap program. If you know how to fix the electronics, most of the ones we have just need a little work (internal electronics?) and the lettering re-done.

I don't really want blue lights or whatever in mine.

Well this isn't something that will be happening right away, but I think I should have everything worked out within the month. Its kind of a spare time project. As far as blue lights and lettering, I may make a sample one with finished white lettering, and have a base price for stock refurbished, then offer the other custom colors and led mods for an extra price. These are just details, but I'll let you guys know when it all happens. Thanks for the input!!!
