wsp y pipe heat shield issue

k, im putting my new exhaust on today, and didnt really notice until a moment ago that where the pipes meet up with eachother on the wsp pipe run paralell, while the stock ones are on top of eachother, meaning that middle part of the heat sheild doesnt fit. will i just have to take my car to a muffler shop after i get the thing on there and have them construct a new shield or what?

Don't worry about the heat sheilds, I never even tried to put them back on. I never had a problem.

The heat shields aren't necessary. I have had my y-pipe for over a year now without any heat shields and have had no issues.

sweet, ill go that route then. actually the part of the heat shield running from the exhaust manifold to where the pipes meet was salvageable, so i threw that on for the hell of it. im guessing nobody used the rock shield on the catalytic converter if that was replaced it as well?

if you bought an aftermarket cat, then no.. you don't need it.. just bolt the stuff together as it came out of the box and you're good.

Is it a good idea to wrap the Y-Pipe with exhaust wrap??? Like this guy did on his 4th gen??? http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/520

Have any of you guys done this/considered doing????? Does it help out power a little, and keep underhood cooler like he said????????????

just put the y-pipe on and that is it. nothing more. no heat shields. no wrap. just put the pipe on, and have a coke and a smile. then drive away. you'll be happy.

oh good god she sounds ballsy now. i got the 2 1/2" straight through with a resonater and a magnaflow dual tp ss muffler with 2 1/4" outlets. such a nice little hum at idle,i love it. fitment was actually a little off, i had to back out one of the thread rods on the exhaust manifold to get a perfect alignment, other than that everythings great tho.
