Shifter Bushings

Anyone know if the nylon (?) bushing on the base of the shifter rod, and also on the rod that goes to the tranny are replacable from the dealer? Or are these pressed-in parts? You know, the type you have to buy the entire shifter or rod just to get a new bushing... Mine are more than a little worn and I'd like to replace them.
If they're not meant to be replaced, does this sound possible - burn out the old bushings, fab my own out of nylon or even alloy or steel and just pound them back in??
