Engine mounts...advice needed badly!!!

if anyone can tell me the advantages of poly-urethane engine mounts? anyone know of any disadvantages?

price range of both oem and poly urethane and the long run life of both?
which would be worth installing? oem or poly urethane? is place racing the only company that makes poly urethane engine mounts for 3rd gens? :attention

No one makes poly engine mounts for us......you have to fill them yourself. Only downside I can see is if you use a fairly hard polyurethane grade, then the cabin might have excessive vibrations due to the mounts not absorbing as much as before.

Ok I heard it was more for the tire hop then for handeling higher horse power. It keeps your engine and tranny from hopping all over when you bust the tires loose.

3M Windo Weld (be sure it's the Super Fast version...) is as soft as the softest grade polyurethane that you can get from Mcmaster, rated at 55-60 on the Shore A durometer scale, which is around the same as tire rubber, although many people who DIY seem to order the 80A hardness poly instead.

I may do this too and take only half fill it or something, since some people with 4-bangers who totally fill up the mounts sometimes complain about cabin vibes afterwards. The harder the urethane and the more of it you use, the less cushioning the mount is going to give. I wouldn't really be looking for any kind of performance improvement.... just a cheap way to fix worn old mounts!

Yes, you are right. That's why bracket racers like Aaron like poly mounts. It also supposedly makes the drivetrain feel more "connected" and responsive when you shift and accelerate.

Sure, you'd need stronger mounts if you get really high HP numbers too, but that's not why most people do this upgrade.

4 bangers dont run as smooth as 6 cylinder engines because they are firing once every 90* instead of once ever 60*

Yeah I know, but search around the 4th Gen (I think) or General forums and some people had horror stories about some brand of poly engine mount they tried. I can't remember who it was... Place Racing I think, and it was blue... Anyway I kind of gleaned that it was possible to over-stiffen a 6 cylinder mount afterall.
