Interior illumination LED conversion done - Pics

note that i had to take this pic with slow shutter for it to show clearly, they look dimmer in real life. especially the buttons on the ACC...

i couldn't fix the dead illumination in the AAC digital display. and i fixed the dead clock once, but it died again very soon.. it's a real pain in the azz..

i'm thinking about doing LED tail lights and corner lights.. but all that will have to be posponed because i'm still struggling with the stalling problem i mentioned earlier..

and i have to take care of school and work and pay insurance for next year soon. gonna be awhile before i tackle any new projects..

looks very nice, now replace the bulb (or LED) on the bottom part of the fresh air lever on the left side of the climate control

also, there should be a bulb in the A/T switch next to the coinholder

might look a little nicer if you took out the lamp that shines down onto the radio face since it's already bright enough anyway. 92-94s didn't come with this light

yea, the bottom fresh air lever LED got knocked out of place when i put the thing back in so it doesn't shine...

and yes i did replace the lights in the A/T switch and it is blue, but i didn't turn the engine on when i took the pic so it didn't show.. it's hard to align the LED to shine directly on the translucent part tho.. those 3mm LEDs have really narrow light projection...

i wanna find some wide angle clear red LEDs to go in the gauge pod. now the red is only from some red rice bulbs i bought from a rice store. i'll prolly order a pack of 100 from ebay and use the left overs to make custom LED tail lights.

Nice...Did you follow my write up to do the buttons around the steering wheel...if you did was it helpful?

If you used a resistor on the wire going into the ACC that will cause problems with the Digi display. I had to put resistors on each LED instead of the main wire going into it.

I found a solution to the dead and bright spots on the ACC too. I have some light dispersion LED holders that work great. It takes some rigging since you have to use a 5mm LED. It really evens things out though. I will eventually do a write up on how I did it and show parts but I am concentrating on the body and all my interior is out of the car in boxes.

Good job.

I'm not talking about the P and C that light up when you push the button. The 'A/T' right in the middle lights up too with the rest of the interior illumination. The switch is a little bit of a pain to take apart, but is doable.

yea, i read ur write up before i did this job, so when i actually did it i knew what to expect.. it was helpful in that i didn't have to test out each wire in the socket to know which one to put the resistor on.

for the ACC i put a resistor on each of the bulbs, and same for the A/T switch. i didn't want to splice any wires on the ACC socket since there were lots of them and i don't want to cut the wrong one.

for the "auto/econ" and the buttons in that area of the ACC there was this white thing behind the buttons that dims out the light a lot. did u find a way to work around that?

oh, i didn't know that... i just left it the way it is, the bulb has burnt out since the beginning of time so i don't know it actually lit up. i'll do that when i take that section apart some time in the future to fix up my ACC illumination.

white would turn out green because the buttons have this green layer of translucent plastic that filters the light into green.. u'll have to get those out for it to look white. but if u don't have that layer there it would be too bright and actually distract u from the road..

blue works fine because blue is still blue when it gets filtered through green.. i thought about doing white before.. but i remembered what i had on my nokia 3390 keypad, so i went with blue instead..

Those dont dim the light but are made in a way to direct the light to them.

The pieces I have disperse the LEDs highly focused light to a much broader pattern and it evens out the light just like a standard bulb. I wish I had some pics of it but just never got any while I was doing my testing. I will try and find the link to the LED holders and will post it.

been working on that for what seems "a dog's age" (as my grandpa used to always say...) Actually have one pretty much done except I gotta put the lens back on and test it out again... but it'll be done eventually - or at least once I finish moving.

Are there green sleeves in the buttons around the steering wheel? aka could you use white LEDs in the fog light/rear defroster/illumination/cruise buttons? or would they come out green?
