Well....

Tokicos-->$250-300
KYBs-->$200-230
Konis(adjustables)-->$400 and up

Everyone seems to go with Toks, but I don't see why some KYBs wouldn't be just as good!? as for Konis, I've heard the price is well worth the final outcome!

Re: Re: Well....

yup for 4. you can get springs if you want, but IMO it would be kinda pointless to put the stock springs back on after you spend all that time changing the shocks, so get some springs along with the struts. Hmm...as for difficulty, some say if you can change a your brakes and calipers you can do suspension, BUT if you have no experience in moderately challenging auto work(since I've heard the rears are a B*TCH to do)pay a shop to do it. You'll also need a repair manual. should cost NO more than $200(maybe even $150 or less) for the pro install.

Just came back from the dealer, they said i needed 4 new struts and wanted $1100......yea ok Nissan techs. The cheapest I found was at Midas bc theyre running a sale on 4 Gabrielle for $670...which includes an alignment. Question, does any one know if our cars have electronic suspension? They keep asking me that question but Im assuming my car doesnt bc theres no button for ride control (soft or hard). I didnt think our model year had that availible. Oh well, anything is better than my original struts with 124K on them

I replaced my mother-in-law's struts (all 4) on her 87 Maxima and it really wasn't that hard to do. I bought the set of 4 struts from Autozone for about $140.(I got the 2 rear struts for my 92 Max on ebay for $25.) I also rented the spring compression tool from them. Make sure if you do it you get the spring compression tool with the safety locks on it. This was my first time doing struts and it certainly gave me piece of mind not having to worry about the tool slipping off of the sides of the springs. Also, for the GXE models, they normally don't have the adjustable struts. You can call your local dealer and they should be able to tell you for sure though.

OK on your max there is not an adjustable susp they
called that Sonar Suspension and it was not even avalible
after I belive 1990 it was only available on GXE's with
digital dash (YUCK!). There are very few Max's with that
option and it was discontiued. As far as factory struts
save your money and get some performance units I put a
set of factory struts on my moms 90 Max and it rides
a lot rougher than my 89 and dosen't handle as well.
