differance between auto and manual ECUs?

I just did a manual swap into my 91 GXE and I am using the auto ECU and the freakin thing runs great. I will be upgrading my ECU and would like to know what exactly is different between the two ECUs anything important? Can they both be erased and totally changed over to a manual or auto?

yea only extra feature is the power/cumfort switch for the auto, but that just goes to the tranny controler.

What does IIRC stand for?

If I Remember Correctly

on the VE30DE engine, the ECU controls the variable intake on the 5-speed. I used MrGone's AT ECU in mine and the car ran fine, but the variable intake never kicks in.

yeah, I have a 5-speed and I used an AT ECU in mine, just to see if my ECU was failing (it wasn't, it was a rear coil pack). I also have a spare 5-speed ECU.

Its kind of nice having both ECUs, that way I can program one and have the other as a back up.
