well you can go 1 of 3 ways. First you can get factory replacement lenses. The lens runs about $25 from courtesy nissan or other discount dealers. Its not just the lens itself though. Its the whole sealed unit with reflector and all. Just put a new bulb in it and put it in the plastic holder.

second you can buy GXE fogs. I think they are about $50 for the entire kit but I may be wrong there. They are a lot smaller than the SE fogs and look much better on a car without a stillen lip.

third just buy some aftermarket fogs you like.

Here is a pic of the SE lens assy. (this is my old cracked on) with the part number you will need.

Do I need to do any modifications or cutting for the GXE Foglights to fit? Or will they just pop in? Also, Are they as bright? if not can I rewire them & out in higher wattage bulbs? Thanx

I dont think so...

The brightness can be changed though...even on the stock lights.

I put some ricer hyper white bulbs with the stock 55w and they are really bright white.

If you want to go up on wattage you should be fine if you make a wiring harness with a relay and larger wires.

HUH? If you want to use your stock plastic holders then get the SE fog lens (shown in my post above with part number). The GXE foglights are smaller and will not fit in your stock plastic holder because its a totally different light.

I am pretty sure they use the same mounting bracket since the GXE and SE have the same holes to mount them. I may be wrong though since I dont own the GXE lights though. Call Kaleb at Courtesy Nissan (# should be in the FAQs) and ask him. Then order from him since it will be cheaper than your local dealer as long as you tell him you are from the org.

look again...your lights came stock with the bulb visible like that? Our turn signals do come factory clear but he took the inside difuser (for lack or a better term) lens out and now you can see the bulb. This gives it a more crystal clear look rather than just a regular clear look.

The Uk and other come with amber lenses.

awhile ago i removed the "diffuser" as mike calls it

but the outside lens was still pitted/yellowed from age so i actually sanded down the lens to 2000 grit and hit it with the buffing wheel and then wash it.. bam. This is basically the same way i "chromed" a whole bunch of metal pieces around the engine bay before coating them - brackets, clips, power valve (which you can see in the pic), etc etc. Ill put up lots of pics once the car is back on its feet

before/after

the gxe mount right to the bumper rail and the se mount on a bracket that is mounted to the bumper rail so if you get the gxe fogs you dont need that se bracket i think im confusing myself i used to have the gxe fogs with my gxe then a damn coon hit me

How did you remove the "diffuser"? I took it off and the diffuser is not completely connected. Looks like only on the sides. Did you just crack it off or does it seperate?

Maximan, awsm66, how do you remove the "diffuser?"

Edit: kind of found it out...take out the signal and the top part and push the "diffuser" toward the outside of the lens and it will flex, I'm assuming just bust the **** out of it?

i cleaned my lenses and diffusers, great analogy btw, i love it!!. anyway, i never figured that diffuser removing would make it clear, didnt quite notice. basically, when you bend the diffuser out, it will indeed snap, it is bonded on left and right where the screwage holes are. after youre done, do something about that rubber string, make sure u dont toss and mount it back on, because it will prevent condensation which is why i had to clean mine in first place.

im still confused, which cleaner did you use? wouldnt sanding get it all blurry and stuff?

and did you sand it from the inside or from outside? or both? if inside, then how did you get all the corners without f*ing the details up?

sanding alone will make the lens dull but he said he buffed it afterwards which will bring back the shine. 2000 grit paper is really fine and will not put deep scratches in the lens so it would not be that hard to buff it back out.

I don't have a buffer, nor have I ever "buffed" anything before..is there anything we can substitute for this step? Sanding won't be bad nor will washing it afterwards, but I don't have a buffer

i had a spare bumper lens that i practiced on, so i sanded that first and it became cloudy and dull at first but i kept going down to 2000 and it started to look better. After some buffing wheel action-- nice and shiny and clear

just buy a small polishing bonnet that can mount on a drill; thats what i did... and use it dry (ie dont add any polish, wax, cleaner, etc) just take it out of the package put it in the drill and get busy

the sanding smoothes out the surface from all the pitting & scratching on the lens and then buffing it will give it the shine

a ghetto write-up:
- take the whole bumper light housing out and take the outer lens cover off
- theres a reflector-like plate sitting in there aka the "diffuser", remove it.. pry it out
- sand/buff the outer lens as i described above
- if the plastic housing where the bulb sits is F'd up or faded, repaint the housing with chrome paint (optional)

i guess this is the maximan190 clear bumper lens mod now?

Back to the GXE fogs...

they come in a kit from Nissan.... They're Bosch foglights, but you'll need to buy the lights and the "installation kit" separately. the brackets are different between the GXE and SE fogs, but they mount to the same place on the car. just remove the factory SE mounts, then the GXE ones will mount in their place.
the installation kit comes with all the wiring necessary to install the thing on a car that never had them, so you'll just leave that part out. the plugs are different as well, so I just chopped the SE plugs off my car and spliced in the GXE kit's connectors. total install took about an hour..

cost is around $100, IIRC... again, be sure to get the fogs AND the install kit..
call Kaleb at courtesy.. 800-527-1909 and he'll fix you up.

So I cant just take off the SE brakcets & fogs & pop in the GXE's? I need to redo the wiring also? Can you adjust the position of the GXE's? Are they as bright?

just cut the connectors off under your bumper. a couple butt connectors and shrink wrap and you're done. easy stuff.

yes, you can adjust the aim of the GXEs. loosen the nut on the back, aim it where you want, tighten it back up.

they're just as bright as the SEs. they use the same bulbs.

in va, there are state inspections and by doing this "mod", will make it illegal? Will removing the diffuser part make the housing getting a little warmer than usual or will it be the same even though i have the OEM stock lights in there? Can i just leave the diffuser in there and just sand the outside of the lense and then buff it down to make it looks clear as the headlights or do i have to take the diffuser off? This mod indeed does look very nice.

Keep an eye on the seals that hold the glass on the factory fogs. I knew mine were getting some moisture in the lights and rust had started, but I didn't know it was as bad as it really is. Check the seals on your factory fogs cause when they give they rust up REALLY quick. Here's what mine look like from when I pulled them off the other day.

I cleaned off the rust the best I could..but the layers on metal just flaked away. So I put some silicon caulking on the lens to seal it and will probably be calling Kaleb soon to get those new lenses Michael posted a pic of. Stoopid rust.
