Just picked up a ve today and i have an idle problem
it idles real sloppy goes back and forth and sometimes will stay at 1500 sometimes will be fine but most its erratic if i touch anything electrical in the car the idle goes real high and then settles back down and also when i drive the car with the headlights on and hit the brake the car almost dies.
Could this be an alternator problem as the battery is brand new or is it the idle air control valve

 

It could be the iac is just dirty. if the iac has failed it would not idle at all. Cracked vacuum hoses will also cause a idle problems.
