The never ending dominoe effect Kinda long

I swear my maxima has been given me so much **** lately. Probably a good thing anyways since i got my license suspended but im workin on getting that back soon. Anyways I posted a thread a week or so ago about replacing my thermastat and that went smooth. So after i put that in i try to start my maxima and well it wont start bad battery. SO i have my friend give me a jump and nothing happens some smoke came out of no where and sparks flew. I asked him if he hooked it up right and he said he did. No chance it would start something had fried. So i go to the store and buy me a brand new battery put it in and this time she fires up. But none of my lights work only the head lights very strange. None of my dummy lights work except for the battery light, my speedometer doesn't work, temp gauge doesn't work, rpm, etc... The interior lights won't work and my tail lights wont work, automatic door locks wont' even work. So im left there next to my maxima scracthing my head. So i wait for my max to warm up and see if the thermastat is working i can't tell how hot it is cuz the temp gauge doesn't work so i felt for the hoses to warm up and it took forever for the pressure to build up then i notice a leak comin from the bottom of my engine by the belts, it appears to be that now my water pump is leaking so now i need to replace that. Can anyone help me with my electrical problem i checked all fuses the only one bad was the battery one i replaced that and still same problems persists. I checked fuses in engine bay except for the relays i have no way to tell if they are good or bad or for that matter which one would control all of those problems i have. Or am i just screwed i have a feeling some wires got fried and i hope not cuz that sounds really expensive. Like always i appreciate everyone's help the org kicks so much *** i always come here first before i ask anyone else's advice. I appreciate everything

did you check the big "fuses" (fusible links) too?

I bet your friend didn't hook it up right

hopefully its just a fuse, but you might have to break out the multimeter. I have a spare VG gauge cluster if you want, I'll sell it cheap, they are backwards compatible, just means you cant tell if your going 135 or 145mph, but then again with a suspended license I doubt you will care anytime soon

Yeah im thinking it has to be a relay of some sort or a fuseable link. I just don't know which one. Something similar happened to my 300zx same senario someone helped me jump it i had to start her up cuz no one knew how to start up a 5-speed and someone had reversed the cables. Now in the Z it blew the main fusable link for the battery and the car wouldn't start at all. With my maxima she starts perfect just nothing electronically works except the ecu i imagine and my head lights. I haven't really bothered messing with her yet since my license is suspended. Happened for a reason i look at it cuz honestly if my maxima wasn't broken i'd prolly be driven it. It's damn tempting especially now that i got a brand new suspension with the aftermarket anti sway bar my max drives so good. But with that aside i know i'd prolly end up gettin pulled over and that would just violate my probation. Blah but im getting my license back soon once i get insurance again and pay my 125 bucks to get my license back. But until then im just goin to fix my maxima hopefully after this i'll have no more problems. I've done so much to her this year alone and it seems like well just lately since i've had my license supspended she doesn't want to work. Huh go figure and hey Mr. Gone are you saying im goin to have to have a completly new gauge cluster. Im just curious to why i would when my car got jumped did it fry the whole cluster. I hope not i just know nothing works. Whenever it warms up a little and it stops raining im goin to go down there and check all the relay's i just can't think to which one would control all of thoughs electrical problems. Like i said all fuses were good except the battery one inside the car im clueless but hopefully i'll figure something out. I really don't want to have to end up re wiring the whole car that would be a pita. Plus i still got my leaky water pump to fix, then my wheel studs. And from there my motor mounts and a tune up and i should be good for a while. wish me luck and again i appreciate everyone's advice.
