Brighter back up lights?

Anyone done anything to get more light when backing up? It seems like there is no light back there at all, but they're on.

If you ever pulled the tails off you'll see some type of clear plastic piece on the reverse side. Find a way to pop that out then do the same for the turn signals. Now every light at the bottom is clear and should be brighter. But first replace the bulbs.

you could replace your reverse light bulbs with some hyper whites or something, or as he said clear your tail, or do both and

I looked into everything LED while I've been wiring my e36 projectors, and I've decided to go with LED turn signals and that's about it, I may go with LED tails someday..but as far as reverse lights:
"LED bulbs are generally not as bright as standard incandescent bulbs, they have many advantages over filament bulbs (longer life, faster on/off times, lower power consumption, more vivid colors) but brightness is not one of them"
Taken right from the LED bulb page..

I don't know, David... I'm STILL working on my little project (been slowed up because of money/moving issues), and they look bright enuff to ME. Even in some preliminary tests where I mounted them to the car to look at them from a distance (and no, these are NOT mounted - but just to show how bright they are)

So, maybe there are mitigating factors that come into play when they say that brightness isn't one of the advantages of LED bulbs. Or, maybe in the LED 'bulbs', they use a lower mcd-rated LED - as opposed to the 10k mcd I'm working with...

Unfortunately, I can't see the pictures, maybe later in the day they'll appear..maybe your custom LED tail lights will be brighter, especially with 10k ones, but it sounded like that guy just wanted to buy a drop-in LED bulb and be done with it, that's why I advised against it...I'm nearing completion on my front end, just waiting on my LEDs (might come today) and then I'm going to mount them and test them in the turn signal, I'll PM you and get your opinion.

Wow, those look really good!!

One question, how are you dealing with the curve in the tails? Are you putting leds in that part also, or just in the flat area?

Hmm, I'm at school now and those look really good! I think I'm going to replace the brake light bulbs with hypers whites so they're really bright, and also put reverse lights (might use LEDs now, after seeing yours, PM me and give me some information on where you got them PLEASE!) in the stock reverse light section and in the turn signal section (will have to clear my tails) as I'm changing one of my brake lights (will still be a brake light when the signals off) into a turn signal, as well as the 194 bulb in the curve of the tails
