no, with mine, they are dropped and screwed in from the trunk, i have tried many times to get them our from there but it wont work, it is a gxe with the **** 6 1/2" speakers not the bose 6x9's and the only way to get them out is to take off the carpeting and the covers over them and to do that i need to take out my back seat.

Hi 93max , I got recently changed my speakers an know how to do ....
if you lift from the side(from open door) the bech not the back seat .. looking at the back towards the trunk you will see a skrew . unskrew this one "dont remove". then go to the other door side and do the same . then lift the back seat and unclip it from the top .then unskew and remove the brake light ... then from the trunk the'll might be some white plastic pins to remove upwards where the speaskers ares.might be green or blue.the you can slide the panet on wich the speakers panel in on and than change speakers ... to put back is reversal of removing... hope this helps......
then

^^ it's screw, not sKrew

anyhow, craig's website pretty much shows ya how to remove the back seat. i personally find it easier just to remove the seat bottom before removing the back rest portion.

It is the most silly design. You have to take off the backseat to change the speakers. Nissan at it's best. The seat is easy to remove with a sturdy screw driver at the corners.
