Well, this is fun

I got a stereo system in the car tonight. I had to run new speaker wires since most of the Bose system was missing but it all works now.
The punk who owned this car before cut the freakin antenna lead off so I had to run a new lead back to the antenna also.

I started replacing my toasted Y-pipe but had to quit for the night.
I got most of the old pipe off, broke 2 studs on the rear exhaust manifold, but had to stop.
The 2 nuts on the catalytic flange are seized and rounded off so I'll need to bust them off and drill them out.

You should have seen the rig that he replaced the flex pipe with. There was just a small section of pipe in there with a couple U-bolt clamps. The pipe was too small in diameter so even with the clamps tight the pipe was loose enough to be able to slide it back and forth. It's no wonder the car sounded like an old Ford pickup.

I should be able to get it all done tomorrow.

Done. I had to buy a dremel and some new drill bits but the car is nice and quiet now.
Thanks to Aaron92SE for the great deal on a perfect condition Y-pipe.

I'll get some pics tomorrow in the daylight. I've been working on this car since I bought it so it can be a good daily car.
It sounded bad enough with the rigged up flex pipe, I'm sure it would have been really obnoxious with open manifolds.

You're up toward Toledo, right?

heh, I should have taken a sound clip of when I had nothing but an open Y pipe. I drove it a few miles like that to another exhaust shop because Firestone wanted 960$ for a factory replacement exhaust. I think the kid in the Camaro at the stoplight was envious of my exhaust note.

$960?!!! Yikes, what a ripoff.
I guess I was lucky to do it for just over $100.
