Trying to install new temp control.. HELP!

Just got my used temp control and while looking I noticed the 2 metal rods connecting to the back. One goes to the temp and the other goes to the little vent switch on the left side. I don't see anyway to take it apart without breaking something. Does anyone know where I can get directions on doing this or maybe you've done and can offer some advice. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. It's getting cold and I can't change my temp and that sucks.

There are two cables (rods) 1 blue and 1 black, . If the blue cable is not cut you can reuse it, the other end is mounted about center of the dash alittle twords the passenger side. You will need to take the switch panel ,gauge bezel and center console completely apart, the glove box and that lower panel. Once you have it apart you will see where it goes. You can almost do the hole job with a phillips screw driver.A Chiltons or FSM will have directons on removel and installing. Check and make shure all the lights work befor completing the install good luck Dave

Thanks for the reply. I ordered the part off ebay and both the cables have been cut. I should have done more research on the project before I ordered the part. Now it looks like I'm going to have to pay somebody to do it.

You can still use the old cables the black cable is held in place by a small clip pull it out then move the control to get the casing to move so the so the wire will
slide out of the slot. The blue cable has a little larger clip and it will snap right off, it is a little tricky getting the wire out of the switch . When you reinstall the cables you can see where the marks from the clips where and reinstall them. If you do this remove the blue cable from the vent, it will make it easer to remove it from the unit and reinstall

you should be able to do it yourself. The cables can be removed from the ebay unit and you can resuse the existing cables. You'll notice they have a bend in them. You just have to twist the main unit the right way and you can get the cables off. Also, the piece of the drivers side with the lever for fresh air will separate from the rest of the unit. I think it just slides back. It's been a while since I removed mine though.
If you're still stuck, dont pay someone to do it. Bring it up to Duluth and I can do it for you.

Thanks for all your help. I'm going to try when I get home if I don't freeze first. Craig I checked out your page, your car is tight and your page seems very helpful. I've got alot of things I want/need to do to my car, and nobody I know is really interested in stuff like that. Maybe we can get up some time and you can share some of your knowledge. I'll keep you all posted.

Installed it today, it didn't even take 30 min. The hardest part was getting the old one out. Once I figured that out it was smooth sailing. Thanks for all your help.
