straigh pipes meaning no cat/resonator/muffler?

But yes, you can benefit from a Y-pipe.

if you leave the stock y-pipe, you will still have the same restriction, regardless of what is beyond it. That's why a y-pipe is one of the best bolt on mods. It has less restriction in a very restricted part of the exhaust.

but do you have any other mods?
and what size pipe are you running?
I've currently got straight pipe on the cat back, but that will be changing in the not too distant future.

I went from stock y-pipe/wsp test pipe to wsp y-pipe/stock cat

massive massive difference. The y-pipe is truely a must have mod, it will create more traction problems than you know what to do with . I took out the test pipe so my car would be quieter.

yes, it doesn't just make noise, but it makes bad nasty, ugly noises.

(well it didn't with the greddy, but with the stock muffler it did, ugh)

Rhetorical questions from Jeff are the best...

I think what Jeff, MrGone and I are trying to tell you is that if you don't have a y-pipe, it doesn't really matter what is beyond that. Your exhaust only flows as well as your biggest restriction -- which is usually going to be the y-pipe, unless you have a clogged cat or an aftermarket 1 inch exhaust.

You could be running 4-inch straight pipe from the y-pipe back, but all it will do is sound like ass with no gains except in dbs.

Yes I agree you have to start at the front and work your way back. I need to get a 3 inch downpipe made then try to get a 3 inch exhaust made. the down pipe will start the diffrance and I will feel more once I get the whole thing done

no need for 3 inch piping unless you plan on turboing the car. 2.5 is more than enough.

what they are telling you is that your biggest restriction is the stock y-pipe. changing that will give you the biggest gain. do some searching on what a stock one looks like and a warpspeed one looks like. you will see difference.

and my asking price is $115 shipped for my y-pipe
