Quesion for 5sp swap guys

I've got the transmission put in the car in the car and now I just need to install the clutch pedal and figgure out what I'm going to do about the shifter.

How did you know where to put the holes for the clutch pedal/master cylinder, and how did you deal with that damn airduct that gets in the way when I try to see where I need to put the pedal?

Also, I'm missing a few peices for the shifter. Mainly, the bracket that holds it together. I've got the stabalizxer and controll rods installed, and I basically have the stick connected to the two rods. No spring or anything and I dont ahve the bracket. It somehow dissapeared overnight from the junkyard I was getting parts from. Does anybody know where I could get the missing parts? I'll take a picture in a bit to show you what I have and maybe someone can help me out.

The best way I think to mark the holes for the clutch are to make up a template from a 5 speed car, and go from there, as far as the parts I can't relaly help you out.

twinkle is right just go back to the 5-speed car and make a template of the holes and then go back to ur car and just do the holes from there, but remember when u install the clutch pedal ur gonna need some spacers cuz the 5-speed donor car has two spacers and the autos don't have that so u have need to get some spacers for that. as for the small parts u need go back to the junkyard and just look for one that has it and just take. i had the whole assembly but the bushings were wasted so ended up getting another one and threw away the other shifter. if u need anything else let us know.

Would some washers work for the spacers?

The holes for the clutch pedal should be pretty easy, now I just need to find those parts for the shifter. We were at the junkyard on Tuesday, found the car, got most of the parts out, but we had to leave early to get my friend home for some family thing. Came back the next day to get the rest of it out and take it all home, and we couldnt find the bracket, the boot, and a few other parts for the shifter.

I'm thinking I might just make something with plywood to hold it in place well enough for me to drive to school for a couple of days while I search/wait for the parts.

as for the spacers I sugest taking a pair of pilers and ripping the one out of the donor car, at least that is what I did, bent it a few times and it popped right off

Hmm, maybe I'll hit up Speeday on Tuesday. I went to U-Wrench-It and found the only 5 speed VG they had. I guess I got lucky in finding it. They had another 89-91 GXE and I think an 86.
