2004 Review: Your Maxima :)

I just thought of the idea, although few days late (I was searching through some old threads ).

Try and remember all of the stuff you did to your maxipads in 2004, From January to December .

If you want, even mention things you would like to get done for this year

Brad, I thought you did the 13" cobras too? (or did you not mention it because of the winter wheels?)

I was just curious, how did you do your gauges? just those 168/194 LED bulbs?

OE stuff:
Replaced Auto Tranny

Aftermarket:
Replaced entire OE stereo
Custom made 6.5" speaker pods for the door
Bought 2 pair of component sets and custom installed tweeters too. For Front and Rear.
Installed Angel eye foglights
Ricer eBay BUlbs

Plans to do since the max is mechanically sound after the ins. company fix my dent and it will occur in this order:
eBay CAI and FSTB
Rear Disk Swap and 92-94 Tail conversion with trunk and Stillen Spoiler
Some 17" wheels (Black with silver lip)
Stillen Kit or Sarona Kit (Either way they'll have to get some custom work done to them)
Sprint springs and GR2's
Full Dual Exhaust
I hope to spend atleast 7k in cars alone this year. Still uncertain because if I decide to do an RB swap with my 240sx then the max won't get as much.

No, I haven't done the front brakes because of money and I would need some new winter wheels. Eventually I will though. I put in 4 led's in each 194 socket and soldered them in series, and hot glued them in. No resistors, no problem!

Mostly just maintenance-y things:
New RedLine MT-90 trans fluid
New tail panel
Proper tuneup (NGK plugs, wires, new cap and rotor)
Painted grille
Flushed out cooling system
New back-up light sensor
Fixed passenger side door hinge
Disabled seatbelt sensors
New 4DSC decals
New front tires
gas cap
fuel filter
air filter

Plans for future:
-Immediate:
Brake rotors and pads (well, this will wait until summer)
New passenger door Bose speaker/amp(I'm going nuts not having any tunes. stupid bose)
try to get my front passenger blinker working >

-More distant
Trunklid or maybe just epoxy my wing down a bit. if you look close, you can see my Rust-Oleum paintwork on the trunklid
Front passenger side quarter panel
New bumper cover
New passenger door
One of the little nissan logos that goes in the grille
Jim Wolf intake cone
have wheels powdercoated black (I may just buy another set of cheap ones)
new steering wheel
new foglamps (mine are gone)
new passenger side headlight assembly
maybe leather seats if I find some cheap manual ones

I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, but whatever. This is assuming I'd elect to keep the car. In reality, I plan to drive it until it a splodes, and then find something better. Like a better Maxima
The previous owner must've been into that 'remove all decals/logos from the car' thing. I, however, think its the most ****ing stupid idea ever, so I'm putting them all back. I've done the rear panel and 4DSC decals, now I just gotta get that grille taken car of

hmmm lets see...

got 92GXE with bent valves from tbelt breakage. Fixed it and drove it for a while then painted it and sold it.

Didnt do much to the 93SE because I hate it ...well I did do an ACC conversion (with Craigs help of course).

Got the 92SE in Dec...put in new motor, replaced exhaust studs, rebuilt VTCs, replaced knock sensor (all of this with the help of portdave and CraigB), put my seats in, put my UK corners on, installed my Intrax, AE pedals, AE shift ****, Ichibahn e-brake handle, e-brake and shifter boots, installed Stillen kit, removed spoiler...still more to come.

I just realized that my car looks a *lot* like the Mafia Sentinel from GTA3....maybe I should add rear window louvers and a set of chunky 5-spoke wheels to my list of future work

That, and a crazy guy with a gun.

Lets see...

Added those carbon fiber pillar thingies
Pretty sure I put in the gauge pillar thing in 2004... still need gauges
Bought some new wheels but have yet to get tires and put them on
Bought some VE taillights but have yet to put those on
Bought an intercooler and have yet to put that on
Still haven't got the MSD on... but I have it
Bought the romulator and have a bunch of rom files... but have yet to get that going
Bought the brackets for the Z32 calipers, Cobra rotors, and Z31 rear rotors... but still have to collect a few more parts and put those on
Replaced the turbo once after frying the crappy original I had... this one isn't much better
Replaced a burnt out brake bulb
Put some new tires on the front
Had the front aligned (should have done the rear as well... stupid me)
Put in a stage 3 Spec clutch and a Fidanza flywheel
Broke the grill
Bought some Eibachs....... have yet to put them on
Attempted to buy some Konis... twice... computer ****ed up and the order didn't go through (not sure whether to kill the cable modem, my computer, or the cable company)
Installed a DVD player and LCD screen and CD changer... but couldn't get the screen to work correctly with the player then there was a fire in our garage and the subwoofer that I was trading for all of that got wet and since it has a paper cone is most likely ruined so gave back the dvd player and lcd screen but kept the cd changer and gave some cash for it (basically)
Bought a Pathfind intake manifold... have yet to install

I think that's about it... what a crappy year for my car

This year the plans are:

Install intercooler
Install new turbo, either a T3/T4 or a Holset HX35
Buy a boost controller and turbo timer
Buy all of the guages that I want
Buy the rest of the brake stuff and install all of that
Buy some tires and put the wheels on
Buy a new grill
Fix the headlights for once (it looks like someone who was drunk put the on... )
Buy some GTS covers for the lights to give the gapless look
Edit the ecu so that its finally running properly all of the time
Buy some 370 cc or larger injectors
Attempt to put on the Pathfinder intake manifold
Buy some Koni's and have them setup to be externally adjusted (hopefully)
Install the Eibachs with the Koni's
Hope to make enough money on the new business to have someone make some coilovers

Buy a few more Maximas and finally finish my planned insanimas... rwd max, awd max, and vg30dett max

Finish the Z (before March if at all possible...)

Might install a VE tranny... this open diff bull**** is finally starting to **** me off

Build up my other VG30E with the TT crank, TT rods (might go with some new eagles though), arias 9:1 forged pistons, various head work, etc. etc.

Redesign my exhaust manifold setup for something that actually flows worth a damn

Oh yeah... and install everything that I haven't installed yet

The list goes on much, much more.

MTCOOKSON smart about the vg30e with tt crank and rods since they are forged and rods are shot peened factory. I was planning on helping my friend do that to his project max. just gotta machine the crank smaller and crank gear larger due to the vg30e crank is smaller diameter snout. and has a 8 bolt flywheel instead of 6. should be pretty much undistructable. I was thinking of using a mercury villager vg30e since its not an interferance motor so no worrying about belt breakage. good luck with ur turbo vg.

Hmmm, what did I do with my max in 2004

Maintenance:

-2 new fuel injectors
-New clutch
-Low mileage, used trannsmission
-Front and rear brake pads
-New knock sensor and harness

Aftermarket:

-CAI
-Y-Pipe
-Fidanza Flywheel
-17" rims
-Gauge pod pillar w/ autometer fuel pressure gauge
-High flow cat

Then I sold the max a few months ago. Just figured I'd drop a line here, I'm actually thinking about picking up a fourth gen now, I still have a heart for third gens though.

ok car came out of the garage in march, drove it for a couple of months than the tranny went, brought it to mechanic in the begining of june, it sat there until end of september (couldnt locate a tranny and then found one but got jerked around for a while, ended up rebuilding)
got the car home on a sunday (end of september), bought G35 the following tuesday, didnt drive maxima for a month, drove it one night in november, next morning gear oil all over new driveway, maxima goes back into the garage, december it snows, maxima outside under cover and g35 in the garage, happy new year.

oh yeah somewhere in there I installed a new tv and dvd player and sold my ROH wheels and aquired Juans 18" wheels causing him to hack up his car to fit his new 20's.
