How the hell can the VG30E in the 300zx make 222 hp?!? What needs to be done to my Max to get the same results. (besides an engine swap)

Don't even think about Turbocharging or Supercharging the Z. You are asking for suicide. The high compression ratio of the VG30DE will not allow for such application. Your best bet is 50-75shot of NOS. Also, if your thinking about dropping in a VG30DETT in a NA Z.. it is not as easy as you think. The amount of labor needed for that type of swap is very high and you might as well buy a Z TT because it will not only save you $$$ but also time and trouble from swapping.

I've seen pics of a supercharged NA but they had to pull the A/C, so it has been done. But it's not very common and as SkyMax says, you're better off just buying a TT.

There are a handful of people that have done TT->NA swaps in their 2+2s and convertibles. But they either have a lot of money, or did it themselves. Actually, you will need a lot of money if you do it yourself or not!

Other than that, NOS is probably the most cost effective way to make the NA fast.

I suggest checking out www.twinturbo.net if you have anymore questions.

Well, put a few numbers together.. 222+ NOS = 272 to 297hp.
a stock 300ZX TT is 300hp... so if your'e dumping around 280hp into one, you're going to be almost as fast at a stock TT.

of course you can still add NOS, computer, and all kinds of turbo goodies to a TT and have 400+ HP for about the same money you'd have a N/A modded enough to keep up with a stock TT.

If your looking for speed don't get an NA.. a TT will always leave an NA in the dust. A NOS'd NA is quick but still not quick enough to beat a TT. My friend has dynoed over 430hp in his Z TT and he has only done basic mods. His name is SilverZTT on Twinturbo.net.
