Rack and Pinnon

can someone help me and either give me a link to where the rack and pinnon is or give me a real good description on where it is. because i am leaking a lil bit of transmission fliud so when i took it to the shop they said it was rack adn pinnon and it will be $778!! so i want to see if my dad and i can do it ourselves. thanks for your help.

If you have to ask where the steering rack is at, I sure hope your dad knows, otherwise I think you're going to be in trouble fixing this yourselves

well thank you for the site i hope its the same for my year because it says 93-98 and mine is a 91. also yes i know where the terring column is, i just needed to know if anyone had a picture of the steps. thanks again.

buy a repair manual, but you don't really need it. I've typed out the instructions for this several times in the last few weeks. plan a full dya to do it, but it's not really difficult.
6 bolts, two tie rod ends, two flare nut fittings. slide it out of the fender well, replace.

and you don't have to remove the steering wheel. Just make sure you don't turn the wheel once you get the steering shaft unbolted from the rack. if you do, you'll ruin the spiral cable, and they're $250 or so from the dealer.

$778 thats alot of money.
