Hey everyone...i just got some e36 projecters...i havent seen too many people with them, but i know some people have done it...my question is the install...anyone have a good write-up on the projecters, not the regular e36...how diffrent is it?? thanks everyone

I HAVE PROJECTORS AND IT'S THE SAME PROCESS! The ONLY differance is I used H4's for my low beams. Look in the stickies, it's just get anymore clear.

did you do a write-up at all...can u show me some pictures plz...someone told me we cant use the braket like the regular e36's...pics would be great, or even better would be a write-up with pics...thanks man

There already is a write up. The brackets are ALL the same, you all have to be removed as is with normal e-36's. Read to write up in the stickes.

come on guys. The projectors are larger than the usdm lights. The ones therealgoon has are not the same (they look just like the usdm ones for some reason).

The guys that have installed the projectors that I have seen could not use the maxima brackets because the light assemblies are way too large.

I dont know if thats in the stickies or not (no I dont read the stickies ) but they are different to install. Heck some have even cut their radiator support to make them fit.

Holy heck you can put bmw headlights in a maxima, no way! I mean if i go back 1 or 2 pages this topic hasnt been discussed 4-5 times.

Yea i have installed those headlights(h7 projectors). And yes you need to cut the rad support. You will remove the old headlight bracket and all because it will not fit the projectors go in way too deep. You also will need to dremel some of the plastic i.e the brackets on the sides of the bmw headlight housing. As for mounting the headlights get some metal type strips and make your own bracket. When you fit the lights you most likely will not need anything on the bottom to keep it in. the bottom sits below the bumper. You will need to make brackets for the grill as well since you will cut where the mount when making room for the headlights. I made 6 brackets in total. I suggest you set some time for this project. it took me i would say somewhere between 8-12 hours to do the whole process. Look at the stickies for a guideline but dont expect it to hold your hand through the whole process you will have to do some experimentation and test fittings (you know some trial and error) to make it work. Feel free to look at my cardomain for some ideas. I will take pics of my brackets sometime when im off and when its not cold. hope this helps you out.

I was gonna say to you, nismo3366 - cuz the stickies only detail how to go about putting in the USDM E36 headlights, NOT the projectors... Same principal, two different methods of going about getting it done.

yea...those angel eyes are hottt! the only thing i'd change on that car is the foglights. their not the same white as the angel eyes but still very hot. does anyone have those lights on a max? i've seen the regular E36 but not any witht the angel eyes

there used to be a guy on here a few months ago (spencediggy?) with angel eyes on his e36. they mihgt have even been the projectors but not sure, i dont remember. basically his car caught fire and he got another car. but his angel eyes were the shiznit. if you guys browse around on cardomain or someone has his link, im pretty sure his pics of his 3rd gen are still there

Yeah, the writeups for the US spec lights dont help, they just give you an idea of what tools you need. The radiator support is fine, you just need to trim a bit off the bottom side of it. As has been mentioned, the stock brackets dont work, and the only part of mine that I resued was the lower grill mounts (I just have the tops zip-tied ). Pretty much everything behind the stock headlight has to be cut out, from the radiator mount (you still keep it though) to the outer side.




This kinda shows the install, but I didn't take any pics of the cut-out areas, but I'll be able to take those in a couple months. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

UPDATE::

Thanks to some good advice and fast responce from brad92se i was able to install my e36 projecters ( also with some help from my friend marc) ...the install came out pretty good...i need to work out some kinks but it'll come with time...there wasent enough space so i cut my grill so it would fit...i still havent figured out the wiring to get everything working...thanks again for all the in put and help...pics will be up soon!!!

When we said there is more cutting involved with euro lights... We didn't mean over and inch off the grill. It should be flush with the corners. Not a gap at all.

omg, what on earth! why did you hack the grille?




i think you could have hacked some of the light before you did the body. maybe there is something blocking it or whatever. the clearness of the lense goes good with the clear corners though.

i knew people would say that...it was early in the morning and i had work at 8 so we needed to finish it up...i havent had time to take them out again and try to figure it out...i moved them a little closer to the side marker this morning when i sqrewed the side marker into the headlight....my car is getting repainted again under warrenty...so i will buy a new grill and fix it before it gets painted in a month or so...thanks for the responces though

Wow, glad you like them, but yeah maybe when you change the grill, you can take your time, and make them a little more flush.. maybe use the WADE headlight covers, are yours glass or plastic, i dont know if you can use the WADE covers with the glass E36's?? Can you??
