5 speed transmission question

does anyone know for sure if a manual out of a 92se will fit in a 93se, I remember hearing something about the 3rd gen trans' being changed at one point.

that should fit without any issues. just to be sure though, check the tranny code on the little plate on the firewall and match it with the replacement tranny to keep from getting any hassles.

92, 93, 94 SEs all have the same MT.

The 89, 90 and 91 SEs are different. The change was after 91, when the SE went from the VG engine to the VE.

I have read that, too, but I don't think I have ever actually seen proof of it. At least as far as no one on .org has one that I can recall.

If it is true, I wonder if it is a VE tranny or VG tranny (with different axles and hubs)?

I would think they'd just use the VG tranny to keep costs down... but who knows.

limited slip differential. its a unit in the tranny that is supposed to convert torque to the other wheel when one starts to spin. the one in the VE isn't the greatest setup but is better than nothing at all.
