Auto Shop
Auto Shop
Theres nothing better than working in a shop. As part of Toyota T-TEN (automotive program at my technical center) they set me up with a paid internship at a Toyota dealership. Yesterday, I really needed to get my control arm bushings installed. I've gotta say, there nothing better than having a professional auto shop at your disposal and techs (some with 25+ years of experience) that are willing to answer any question you have.
We had to heat up the control arm with a torch until it was almost red hot. Four or five slams from a hammer popped the bushing right out. Putting the new bushing in took a few minutes using the press we have. I can't even imagine how long it would've taken me on my own. In conclusion, WORKING IN A SHOP RULES!!!!!

I've wondered what facilities/tools people have available. I have a full shop w/ lift, tire balancer, tire machine, presses, welders, plasma cutter and everything. My mechanic can't work on my personal stuff during business hours though. Generally I use him for advice. He builds his own dirt track race cars, but not on company time.

I was in autoshop in highschool my Senior year. Having the lift spoils you. Then again I have a nice selection of tools myself
[QUOTE=MrGone]Do you own the shop? If so from the ground up or did you buy it after it was established?
I don't own it. I am the facilities supervisor over the skilled trades people. We have almost 2 million square feet of buildings.

I was just curious how much a shop could bring in a year (after all expenses) (well along with how many employee's/building size/etc) blah blah blah
