Eh, sparkplugs
Okay, so i had some extra time, actually i always do, but i decided to see what my spark plugs look like because i saw that chart on the back of the Haynes repair book, and the end to my spark plug is white. And the book said that my car might be running to hot. Anyone have any ideas, or things i could check, i can also post a picture of my spark plug if that will help people.
NGK is the brand
BKR5E-11 is the plug number
They are the copper version of the platinum plugs for our cars. You can buy the Platinums if you want but it's extra money, I figured since you already had copper you would probably just stick with them.
edit: do'h your a VGer anyway lol. Just stick with the coppers.. IE. the number I list above

But whats causing the white stuff? Is that just normal and its time for me to replace them, or is my car upset with me and its trying to tell me something?
by the looks of it its running lean/hot like you said. what grade fuel do you usually use?
also, shawn... isn't that number for 1 step hotter plug? (i think we discussed this before but i can't remember...

I run whatever regular fuel is, 87 or somethin like that, so if my engine is running hot, i know this is a large question, but what should i check? and is my car in danger from this?

so i guess technically i have two steps colder... i guess...

as for the fuel and such, you might try running 89 and seeing if the plugs even out at all. i know when my other maxima was ran on 87 it ran like crap... not sure if it was just crappy gas or what but ecu must've registered some pinging because it felt slower than hell (and no... that's not because its a auto vg dammit!
)
injectors could be an issue if they aren't clean, limiting the fuel going in.
another issue could be unmetered air going into the engine. might check for hose leaks that are after the maf. other than that i'm not really sure what else could do it except for boost.

gOOGLE the issue: "white spark plugs..."

Not sure what causes hot combustion chamber temps off the top of my head, but do you use a lot of (additional) fuel additives or cleaners? I don't remember what colour that comes out to be, but apparently frequent use of those things sometimes shows up on the plugs as deposits.
I'd get a service manual and look at the emissions controls, as I think those may be related to this kind of problem.

Oh, im not doubting Mrgone, i will get those spark plugs next time i need some, or when mine crap out, but i needed spark plugs today to get my car running and i had to work with what was available.
Hi,
if you have bosch in your engine,
when your engine is at normal running condition it will start to bog down and run slow,
i would suggest you to stick with ngk your engine will run better and respond better,
i tried bosch in my engine before and my engine did not respond that will and lose a lot of power,
so don't use bosch and stay with ngk,
bosch sparkplugs are made by german and they are crap,

Well actually after all that, i was going to check the compression all my cylinders, and when i had to take the spark plugs out to do it, they were white again already. So who knows, but i guess it doesnt matter because that car is for sale now. So on to a new project that is even bigger.
