Help!!!!!!
What is the name of the oil seal that is directly behind the crankshaft pulley? Part stores tell me that it's the timing cover seal but, I think it's the front crank seal.
actually the parts man is correct for a change.
when the aftermarket is referring to a crank seal they are referring to the rear main seal.
The front seal is called a timing cover seal whether or not the seal actually goes into a timing cover.

Unfortunately they still often give you the wrong part. We went though this I think.
I went round and round with Napa trying to get the right seal. They had a very hard time finding it. I ended up with the wrong seal. The VE30DE is a hard engine to get the correct parts for.
Just to go a Nissan dealer. I even went to a local Nissan dealer that's not really known to give discounts and their price was about the same as any aftermarket one. Plus they usually had it in stock.

I went to napa and bought the "timing cover seal". When I went home to install it, I figured out that the new seal was the same as the old seal accept it was slightly too small. So I went back to napa and they started to give me another "timing cover seal" accept this one was totally different.
I thought i napa didn't have it then most likely the parts stores wouldn't either but I decided to go to auto zone and pep boys anyways. As I thought they didn't have it either. Finally I called the dealer and asked if they had the "front crank seal" and the said that they had it in stock. 
I went down there and bought it. The part number is 13510-97E10 and it cost $5.95 plus tax.

I have had my udp on for quite a while and it's been leaking because I never replaced that seal. So finally I got around to replacing it.
I'm also filling my motor mounts, replacing my alternator, installing a 4 ch amp, installing some compenents, and installing those washers that are required for the es control arm bushings.

I'm in the middle of installing Koni's, but I decided mid-way though I want to use all new insulators and such so I'm waiting for those to arrive. I just replaced the bushings, balljoints and tie-rod ends on our Durango and after feeling that difference (1998 with 118k and not driven hard at all) I'm going to do it on my car aswell.

That part number is on the 4dsc.com/articles site. If you take 1 minute of your time, you can find the part name by using that number on several different sites or even easier you can call a dealer.
