What are the differences that give it more power?? Is it the just the obvious intake or is it something internal?? I've got an 89 but want more power.

VE is 24 valve DOHC(vs. 12 valve/SOHC) which allows it to breathe better at higher RPM's. It uses variable valve timing technology though most of us VE owners wish nissan had left that one out. The VE engine uses coil over plug technology that eliminates distibutors(very advanced for its time). For the 5sp. guys, we get a variable plane intake. As far as feel, I honestly believe that the VE's don't 'feel' any faster than the VG's but they create power over a longer and higher torque curve.
But I would say that VG's are much easier to do turbocharging due to its cousin, the VG-T. Quite a few people have turbo'd a VG, but you could count on one hand the Turbo VE's out there.

I said that to say that I don't know of any. Maximamike says he's doing it, but haven't seen anything yet. I've debated it since I have a spare engine in the garage and access to a T-3 and some Z31 manifolds for cheap.
GO FOR IT!!! if only it was that easy though, I was planning on the VGT swap, but to me it just seems too expensive to do all at once. I plan to go the NA route and than eventually big shot of NOS. Hopefully after all my bolt-ons get done this summer, I can get my spare VG and start rebuilding/reinforcing in time for next summer. also gotta get the tranny redone too, so right now thats my project, hopeful completeion date fall/winter 2002...the great thing about doing major modding is is sounds great on paper, BUT all that talk is hardly enough to match the lack of funds in my wallet!

all it takes is dinero compadre.... To have a turbo max isn't one of my immediate priorities. My priorities are to get a 14.8 in street trim this summer and to get some appearance mods(wheels, and springs/shocks to go with my body kit). I have a 15.2 in race trim so I figure I got to get a 14.5 in race trim this summer to be able to get 14.8 in street trim(i.e. full interior, trunk, 1/2 tank gas, spare, speaker box etc. all the things that are usually in my car)

Dude the ve doesnt have variable valve timing its only on or off and gives the second torque peak when the rpm's are above 3000 and the second torque peak is at 4000 (according to the FSM)
Also a distributorless ignition has been out for decades but was mainly using is Farm equip.

Then what would you call it then. It advances the cam timing 8 deg. If that's not varible, what is??
