Master Cylinder.

I would just like to know what are the symptoms of a failed or failing master cylinder. My break pedal just drops to the floor when I press on it with no braking effect. I had the brakes bled and it still was happening, so is is gone. I had already had a leaky rear caliper, but when my axle popped out the car wouldnt stay in park. So it rode the tow truck all the way home with the e-brake. when it got home all the brake fluid was empty in the container and the pedal was doing the above mentioned. I just want to know if that killed the cylinder or not so I can get one tomorrow. Thanks.

mount master cylinder in a vise...with bench bleed kit(comes w/new master cylinder)plug all 4 lines and fill resevoir..run rubber hose's from all lines into rese voir and push clinder in with a phillips screwdriver slowly untill no bubbles appear in resevoir..then push it in 10 more times...be carefull hoses do not pull out of resevoir and allow air back in..

I'd say fix the leaking caliper. then bleed the brakes again. When you get around on all 4 corners, do it again. If any doubts bleed 1 more time. Might save you from having to repair something you don't need. Just my 2 cents.

How did air get into the system? You will experience this again soon.
