? ? ? ? ? ?
I have a charcoal grey 92 SE and yesterday I went to get my windows tinted at a reputable shop in NYC, I went with 20% because I thought that 35% would be too light. The job was well done...no gaps, back windshield was done in one piece. My question is did the 92+ SE's come with some kind of coating on the windows because mine do not exactly look black it sort of looks black-borderline brown, by the way the paper they used was Lumar. Before the tint I always noticed that on a bright sunny day from far my windows had a hint of brown to them. I know a couple of 3rd genners on the board have charcoal-grey Maximas w/tint and I'd like know if the same thing happened to them or anyone else for that matter. Thanks in advance.
Re: Brown tint
The green tint you see is from the process by which the glass was made. The float glass process uses a molten tin bath to float the glass on. The tin creates the brown tint. In some cases they add Fe 2+ to the glass. By oxidation-reduction reactions the tin is transfered to a stable valence state and Fe 3+ becomes the major colorant to the glass.
You can see this tint in most windows produced in the last 20-25 years.

hi, i got a 92 grey max just like yours. I have 20% in the back windows with a strip on the front windshild and 35% on the front two windows. The color of the tint is actually the brand of tint they used. I payed $60 more to get onyx ...maybe spelled wrong which is a very high quailty tint. The guy said that this tint is easier to see out at night and ACTUALLY looks black, and its true! Im glad I went all out....well thats it

I thought Lumar was high quality paper. I saw them actually take it out the box and apply the tint. Hey NYC MAXIMA how did your tints come out?
