Clutch Time

im going to replace the clutch and get the tranny rebuilt and i am not sure which clutch i should get i am choosing between
-gravity series compition cluch 40-50% torque capacity increase
-centerforce dual friction 90% increase
-some exedy one off ebay that is i think basically a bit better than stock

im not sure which to get
i have y-pipe, high flow cat, cat back, cai, jwt ecu, fidanza, udp, matts ground kit
i want something that will handle my basics and perform well at auto x but be streetable at the same time
any advice would be appreciated

kyle

Thats just the OE replacement Exedy, I think it has 10% extra clamping force though. Stay away from Centerforce.

I have an Exedy Stage 1 and I am extremely happy with it. If I have to buy another clutch I will probably pick up that one on ebay just to see what its like. I would however pickup an NTN throw out bearing, it looks like the ebay kit does not come with the NTN.

the one on that ebay auction is the oem type replacement. if you're going for performance, go with the true stage I, or go with an ACT.

I wouldn't touch any of the other ones you mentioned, and in fact HIGHLY recomment against the Centerforce. they're absolute crap.

I know what the cost is on them.. he's still making a bit of money selling them for $260 shipped- depending on where it's being shipped to.

he's making nowhere that on them, but if you walk into a shop and buy one, they will be.

then that's not a shop. a Shop has inventory, rent , etc.
I'm not a shop, I'm an e-tailer so I avoid most of the overhead. I've still got the costs associated with advertising, phone, website and cataloging (coming soon)

many shops will do e-business as well.. I do both.. you do as well to some extent. (you have calipers in stock)..

most of the performance shops around here, even orielly's and regular parts stores all have accounts with large suppliers for their performance goodies (Like Arrow Speed Warehouse- one of the largest in the country.) The stores keep some of it in stock, but most of the time they will just order it from their wholesaler and ship direct to you or call you when it comes in- I've even bought optima batteries from a parts store, then they call the supplier and say "Hey we're sending Matt Blehm over for a Yellow Top. can you have it ready when he gets there?"
And they give me the address and I go pick it up.

so it goes both ways.

my stock is owned by the warehouse where I work

Arrowspeed I actually have an account with but I don't recall them being willing to drop ship for me.

I linked up with a larger import performance place instead, they drop shop and I will be having their complete catalog on my site in the not so distant future.
