The Dynomax is available at Jegs.com for about $60-70. as for the install unless you know how to weld, you should leave it to the pros. with "universal" mufflers there are no hangers included, so new ones have to welded in to match the OEM spots on the car. I've heard install prices range from $30-130, with the avg being $70.

I hear you on that!!

mine was $30, but I've heard guys on the forums talk about $70+, so that seemed like pretty much the average

So it's 2.25" for sure on GXE and SE models? I had a pipe made for 2", should I get it expanded for 2.25?

You can always....

get a 2" to 2.25" adapter insert from Track Auto(or a muffler shop), no big worry. I'm pretty sure the size is 2.25"(which it was when I put my muffler on and I doubt my car had any previous work done on the exhaust), but there is always a little argument over this topic, BUT if it is 2" then adapter inserts solve that whole problem.

My $0.02

Stay away from straight thru mufflers, from my experience they're too load

My mistake

If you don't want excessive noise, stay away from straight thru muffler. I wasn't refering to the dynomax, since I'm unaware if it's internal design.

Yeah...

Dynomax is straight through, but he said he wanted a "deep toned" muffler and IMO Dynomax is the best choice.

You're correct that's what he did say, in that's the case

I have a pefect muffler for him. If he's looking to change his OEM muffler for a fully stainless steel muffler (internal and external) keep reading. I few weeks ago I purchased this universal GReddy SP style replica muffler. After install I my wife wasn't too happy with noise level, but keep in mind I have a y-pipe, larger free flow cat and a complete 2.5" piping from exhaust manifold back. My exhaust set-up probably contributed to 80-90% of my noise level. If he has the complete OEM, I repeat OEM exhaust system with no other exhaust mods this might work for him. It already has hangers for a perfect fit on our 3rd gen, just hang and weld (not a direct bolt on) Now for the all important price, $150 which includes shipping within 50 states. Ok it's twice as much but looks 3X better with that SS look. Here are a few pics

I had it in for less than a week, it still has that oil burning smell from the breaking in process. If you're not happy just return it and I'll refund your money, I'll even pay half of the return shipment. Now where in this country will you get a money back plus half on return shipment if you're not happy, where? I'm just another Maxima enthusiast, and willing to work something out.
